Wow some of you are messed up. Do better clutchfans Back on topic... Green doesn't deserve the max. I hope he realizes that and starts to learn to play a team game. I think if he learns to move without the ball the game would get easier for him. My expectations were never too high so I'm not disappointed I just was hoping for more at this point... but he's still young and there's still hope.
Right now - this is very true. None of them have proven anything, and the more time that goes by, the less likely they are to prove anything. This year is very important for the Rockets - and Green, Smith and Thompson. Consider that Amen Thompson - the 4th player taken in this draft, in what was viewed as a 2-3 player draft.
The viewed in a draft thing is flat out stupid. Every year there are break out players lower in the draft better than those in the top 5 - I am more than convinced that the NBA is like baseball - where Billy Beane says "I have seen you look kids in the eyes and say, when you know you know......and you don't, you don't" The NBA scouts don't......there are some that are can't miss but the rest, because we are drafting so young, most are clueless as to whom will make it and whom will fail..... DD
As soon as he realizes that's all he is, he could be a microwave, high usage, 6th man. Right now, he still thinking future MVP, franchise player, and maybe he gets too for one more year. We'll see.
I don't know what he would look like today had he come here ..... But we do know what Jalen Green looks like today. Agree with this 100%. I just wonder if not having picked up that option yet is sending a message. Seems odd to wait to the last moment. What's crazy is that if you decide to go another direction next season, he's still so damn young it's possible he figures it out elsewhere as he's essentially the age of a 4 year NCAA player at that point. I really hate the "One and done" in college and entering the NBA as teenagers. So very few players are good enough at that age to make a real impact and a large percentage of #1 draft picks fail. Yet teams roll the dice on that potential anyway.
Lol. I was mostly kidding. But I do find it hilarious how half of this sub was treating Mobley Mobbers like they all belong in an insane asylum for thinking (knowing) that Mobley was obviously the better player. The Kobe Bryant/Michael Jordan takes were plain stupid and ignorant at the time. If any of you reading this were one of the people drawing those god awful comparisons, you now have your basketball discussion credentials revoked. Sorry. I don’t make the rules.
I definitely thought the Kobe comparisons were way off but I absolutely thought JG was the choice over Mobley. I also didn't think Mobley advocates were insane - I remember Clutch was leaning towards Mobley too - but I thought JG seemed to have the work ethic and really the "it" factor (lol) that makes superstars. By now, it's pretty clear, Mobley was the right choice. Now, will Mobley reach the superstardom? Jury's still out but it's very hard to argue JG will be better in the long run.
I think that's a good take, while Mobley has elite defense he's not a "superstar" at this point either. He'll still need his offense to come around before he can reach that level....but it's a lot better to have a guy who is elite on one end of the court than a guy who is pretty bad on both.
