I'm curious - the ones who voted "no" - who do you think is the Rockets' best player?

Is "Jalen the Rockets' core" and nobody else?

Or "Jabari at 5 - this is the way"?

    @Clutch

Also, @DaDakota, please change your darn vote, please lift the curse! :D

Coming into the year it's FVV, but let's reevaluate after 20 or so games.

It's not really much of a debate. FVV is the Rockets best player. He might be overpaid and all but he's still the most proven guy on this roster and has had the most success playing significant roles when it comes to winning basketball games

Does Sengun have a chance to be the Rockets best player? Sure. but so does guys like Bari/JG. All of which are still question marks and what type of player they will be going forward but this 3rd year for Sengun/JG will be pretty telling

None of these young guys know how to win period. FVV clearly does to a degree. You're easily not the best player when youre the former.

Potential doesn't make you the best. It's just called potential that's it

I voted no although Sengun is a close 2nd but Dillon Brooks right now is the best Rockets player. He can pretty much do it all and efficiently on the offensive end and where he really shines is the defense. Every current player on this team is one dimensional, Green is talented but stupid AF.. Jabari doesn't have the size or dog to be competitive. FVV is too small and pretty mediocre at everything and Amen can't shoot or dribble.... They all have big time flaws that are glaring and hard to win with. Sengun is slow and unathletic and I think he might have not grown at all during the offseason, he is smart but Brooks can do a little bit everything well and when he struggles on one end he can pick the team up on the other end.

It’s a new roster, hard to say.
Coming-in I assumed that this will be Fred and Dillon’s team, so 1. FVV 2.Brooks would be my default position.
However it’s very fluid, maybe some of the younger guys, Sengun inclusive, can develop quickly and leapfrog them. I mean, both Fred and Dillon have certain limitations talent-wise…

I think it's FVV right now

I understand Sengun has serious shortcomings on defense... but so do Smith and Green (neither of whom are as talented offensively), Brooks and Amen might have serious defensive chops, but the offense... I don't think Sengun is our best player, but he certainly has an argument for our 2nd best, along with Eason, and perhaps his biggest competition for the 2nd place ribbon might end up being Jeenathen Williams in a few weeks.

Buy the Jeenathen stock while you can fellas. This dude finishes at the rim better than everybody else on this team, and going off his college stats, his 3ball isn't bad either, combine that with his physicality and hustle, I think we may have picked up a solid one.

To clarify my vote, are we talking:
Best offensive player if a game were played tonight?
    Most important winning this season?
Highest trade / asset value to franchise?

    If it's #2 or #3, I don't think so.

Who cares? The team as a whole still looks like dumpster juice. Feed Sengun nonstop = dumpster juice. Take Sengun off the court = dumpster juice. If this team is going to be one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA again then there wont be much improvement. Shooting the ball is kinda important in the game of basketball. Wake me up when the great box scores of Sengun actually influence winning games while SOFs jump right into blaming everyone around Sengun for hurting his "ascension".

People will hate this but its probably FVV lol. He was an allstar just last (calendar) year and a championship team.

This isn't me saying FVV is great or anything but some might and should consider it a sneak diss for the rest of our young players.

Sengun is decent right now. I think he's someone that potentially could be an all star player but that's about it and I still think the same of Jabari and Green. Just potential.

But FVV is a fringe all-star guy already.

If 1 or 2 of our young guys could get to just that level we'd be at least a top half western team thats fighting for a playoff spot.

    Most reasonable take so far.

That being said, I love 1 game samples.

    T-1. Sengun
    T-1. FVV

It’s not potential. It’s not 2 years from now. Not the best shooter. Not the best pregame dresser.
