Do you think that if we lose Hakeem to Toronto, and sign Mo and SA, will we still have enough cap room to-

    a. Sign Marc Jackson for 5 million and ???

    b. Sign Bullard and Mooch with the early Bird....????

    Thanks in advance.

    Rodney,

    See crispee's and my discussion.....

    Again, the answer is.....
It depends on the structure and timing of the deals.

    We have $4.5 mil exception

In essence we would have to work out a S&T deal with Toronto through GS to pull this off

Rodney--keep it simple. I mean, we have over and over discussed losing Dream and Signing Webber to $12m, right? Further Jonathan Feigen continues to report that we have $24m in salary locked up in current contract obligations. The salary cap is $42.5m That means we have $18m to spread between Mo, Shandon, and a 3rd Free Agent, and then we use Moochie's Early Bird Rights on him.

Now, if we use Early Bird Rights on Shandon, then the $24m number by Feigen needs to include not renouncing Shandon, which is an added $2.8m roughly hitting the cap as an unsigned free agent, making it $26.8m, which puts us down to roughly $15m for signing Mo and another free agent.

Further, if we sign-n-trade Hakeem, you will need to add any salaries we get back to the Feigen number as well, to see what is left for Mo and another free agent.

bottomline: as long as Shandon signs for his Early Bird Rights, we will have roughly $15m available to spend on Mo, a free agent, and a player back in any Dream sign-n-trade.

btw: we will NOT have any exceptions to use for the rest of the year, the moment we sign Mo'. Forget any comments about us having the $4.5m exception to use...we will lose it the moment we sign Mo'.
