I think the Texans could snag some DL depth off of someone's practice squad.
DT Travis Bell (CHI – PS)
NT Timmy Horne (ATL - PS)
DT Trysten Hill (NEP - PS)

Leonard Williams, Trent Brown, Danielle Hunter, Darnell Mooney, Marquise Brown are guys I'd like Caserio to go after.

Not trade deadline related but the Cablanasian and Seth had Caserio on their show. What I took from it is that for those worried Patterson will move elsewhere as soon as Scruggs returns, should not worry. He didn't outright say that but almost. Said they will take progression of current positions into count, how Juice looks in practice

I mean, Chase is a FA after this year. So he can at least net them a 4th or 5th rounder if they trade him now.

Cardinals released Kvon Wallace! Murray is out for a bit and we all know how Ward feels about having to play nickel. Kvon has played safety and nickel. "A numbers game." is the reason they're cutting him but he has better numbers than the rest of their guys.

Texans shouldn't be trading for anyone unless it's one of those 6th round swaps 2 years out kinda deal. They already used their draft capital for Will Anderson so they should be trying to gain picks not lose them. They absolutely will need to hit the FA market this offseason though, in order to maximize team strength before Stroud gets too expensive.

Doesn't look like Texans are really much into trade rumors. Probably nothing really happens. Hope we trade for a DT.

Would you trade a 2nd rd pick for a sack leader that's from the Houston area and agreed to a contract extension?

If we're talking Hunter.. . I would offer a 4th and a conditional pick in 2025 (if he re-signs with Htown).

Think about it... the BEST the Vikings could do if Hunter signs with another team in free agency is a 3rd round compensatory pick. But that would also be hindered by any free agents they signed based on the compensatory pick formula.

So 2 mid-round-ish picks free and clear is better than what they would probably get.

That being said, beating the Niners may convince them to tough it out. You want Hunter? Need them to lose to the Pack

The question is why would he agree to a contract extension? He took a one year deal this past offseason with a no-tag clause specifically so he can cash in on next year's FA. And he leads the league in sacks. If the Texans are giving him an extension there is not going to be a discount compared to just signing him this offseason. So the 2nd round pick is just going to be for his 2nd half rental.

People have been wanting the Texans to re-sign some of these 1 yr deals, in season.
    Well Nick agrees.

Signing young proven players is pretty much a wash with draft picks. I could see us using a combination of both and being just fine. We have a full draft next year even if not with our picks. I would try not to trade the Cleveland 1st, but I think any other pick should be in play for the right young player.

Since when is "the right young player" available for less than 1st though? I mean I am all for hypothetical deals where we give up a 2nd rounder and get a young guy who becomes a pro bowler on a reasonable salary. The likelihood of such deals is so low I don't really account for it in team building strategies

Houston should approach New Orleans about trading for Chris Olave. I think he's miserable in New Orleans. He and QB Derek Carr do NOT get along. Olave was just arrested for dui. I think reuniting Olave with Stroud would do wonders for Houston, and Olave.
