Trying to hype this in-season tournament. Spoiler “Everyone’s got their eyes on this new prize but the only way to get the NBA cup is to win it.”
For the last few years, this was mostly about just wishing the teams I didnt like to lose. This year is different. While the chances are small, the Rockets have a chance to excel into the play-in this season. So this year, those 40ish win teams in the west, we want them to lose. Mostly, the top tier teams I am going to have to root for (somebody has to be beating the 40ish win teams). The bottom feeders, which the Rockets may be part of, we want to win. Go Portland! Go Spurs! Go Kings! Go Bulls! Go Raptors! The team in the East most relevant to the Rockets is Brooklyn. They need to lose as many as possible. Go Cavs!
Imagine trying to hype up this broadcast team. The only solid one is the Spurs Mavs one, though Jefferson should just be replaced by JJ Redick.
BOS: Tatum, Brown, Holiday, Porzingis MIL: Giannis, Lillard PHI: Embiid, Harden (lol) CLE, NY: upstarts / young core / major potential If Miami, without "superstar role players" Strus and Vincent, somehow make it to the NBA Finals again, the East will be as sad as it ever was.
This takes the secret tunnel to their locker room to another level, they leave everything on the hotel floor.
