http://www.nypost.com/sports/30594.htm According to Vescey no less Edit: Maybe thats why Grunwald flew down and Vince Carter made the comments about extending today. [This message has been edited by Looogie (edited July 31, 2001).]
Hmmmmmmmmmm. THEN SIGN THE CONTRACT AND LETS GET THE PARTY STARTED! Ohh **** I forgot, Vescey said this so it means that Hakeem is going to accept the deal. Good find rookie. ------------------ "The girls danced, started fondling me, I got aroused, they performed oral sex," Ewing said. "I hung around a little bit and talked to them, then I left."
First Thing: Raptors GM in Houston to woo Olajuwon -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press HOUSTON (AP) _ For the second time this month, Toronto Raptors general manager Glen Grunwald met with free agent center Hakeem Olajuwon in an ongoing campaign to woo him to Toronto, a Houston television station reported. The Raptors have room under the salary cap to sign Olajuwon outright, but have said the team is willing to explore sign and trade options with the Rockets. ``We had a quick meeting,'' Grunwald told KRIV. ``We don't really discuss the ongoing negotiations regarding free agents. Obviously we remain interested in Hakeem and we're hopeful he'll join the Raptors next season.'' ------------------
Second: Negotiations with Houston Rocket veteran centre Hakeem Olajuwon are going well, with one source close to Raptors management saying Monday that a deal is near. "I'm hoping it is," the source said. "You never now until they sign, but things are looking good." The Raptors can offer Olajuwon, a 12-time all-star, a four-year contract worth $22-million a year, more than double what the Rockets had reportedly offered. "We are prepared to move as quickly as Hakeem wants to move," Grunwald said. "But we're also prepared to be patient." http://www.globeandmail.com/servlet/RTGAMArticleHTMLTemplate/C/20010730/wbkto?hub=sportsBN&tf=tgam/realtime/fullstory_Spt.html&cf=tgam/realtime/config-neutral&vg=BigAdVariableGener ator&slug=wbkto&date=20010730&archive=RTGAM&site=Sports&ad_page_name=breakingnews-sports Not sure who to believe ------------------
The fact is Vescey causes me to believe its just a ploy for him to spread his garbage. If Hakeem remains in Houston, he broke the story. If Hakeem goes to Toronto, its oh well, he changed his mind again. If Hakeem decides on Indiana at the last minute, he has that avenue open as well ------------------
It's Vescey. This means Hakeem is probably being fitted in a Raptor jersey at this very moment. ------------------
One thing to remember about Peter Vescey...take anything he says about the western conference with a grain of salt... Nice scoop loogie ------------------ I'm off like a prom dress!!!
Hey everyone... so much for the dog days of summer, eh? I read that the sign-and-trade that Toronto was offering was a first round pick and their trade exception? Please someone tell me that a twelve-time all-star and the all-time leader in blocked shots is worth at least ONE NBA caliber player. You don't see the CONTENDING MLB teams trading away their big-league talent for minor leaguers as they approach the trade deadline. Which tells me that if CD trades our man in the middle for basically "prospects" then he doesn't consider us a contender yet, which is DEAD wrong. We won 45 games last year and all we need is a young, athletic center that will stay healthy all year (Keon Clark... please?) and the addition of EG to and we can improve that that win total by at least 10. Think about it ya'll, how many games did we lose close last year? At least 10... don't you think if we had either had a healthy Hakeem or someone who's a bit better than the Vitamin C's (Cato, Collier) starting at center it would have put us over the top in at least 75% of those games. Sorry if I'm ranting, but I think we have a chance to scare a lot of teams next year and I don't want our man CD to overlook that. Thanks for keeping us informed Loogie... great scoop man. ------------------ "It is better to be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."
Damn...I was kinda hoping to see Sam Perkins in Rockets gear. Old School ------------------ I voted YES!
I suspect the Rockets were more interested in the cap space a future draft pick and the trade exception would free up now. ------------------ The sky is falling!
