Is anyone participating in the walk this year? For those of you unfamiliar with this great cause, direct your browser to www.jdrf.org.

This is a bit off topic, but gives me a chance to brag.

My daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile diabetes three years ago. She was 7 at the time. She is now 10.

When diagnosed, Hannah was on a swim team but quit because it was near impossible to manage her meal and insulin schedule with practice times. As parents, we did not know enough about her care to adapt.

She changed from shots to an insulin pump this past spring. She started swimming again this summer.

Last week was the regional meet. (We live in Pasadena, CA). Hannah had been doing well and was looking forward to it. However last Thursday, she was rough housing with some kids and sprained her foot badly. The doctor in the emergency room put her on crutches.

Still, last Saturday, my brave little girl got in the pool, and qualified in the backstroke for the all LA county meet.

If any of you SoCal BBSers are in Cerritos tomorow, come cheer her on.
