If the Deke and Clark acquisitions did occur then the unbalanced '4' slot of the Rox worsens, with Mo and JuWann and Spoon and Clark all looking for minutes. If you were Rox and the Cavs would you consider: (the unhappy now that Cleveland has Snow) JMc (and the bad signing of) Newbie for Spoon and Lue? For the Cavs to be able to get out from under Newbie, and to sidestep an unhappy 'starter' for a solid role playing and tough 4/3 and a competent and contract expiring 1 it might make sense. To start a backcourt of JMc and TMc with Ward and Sura in reserve it might make sense. Newbie remains nailed to the bench, but there are a few more minutes freed at the 4 for Clark.
Don't worry about Spoon wanting minutes and complaining about it, he's not good enough to play these minutes anyways. Adding Deke or Clark will make this team pretty deep, I wouldn't make anymore moves if I was CD it it happened.
I would do it, but I doubt Cleveland would. Not totally outrageous, but I still don't think it's happening...
I don't really know why everyone's so down on Spoon. I really think we were a better team when he was our primary backup 4.

Clark will get waaaaaaaaaay overpaid and that means he ain't coming here for the LLE. Or we lose out on Deke and in desparation overpay Clark. Vandeweghe is going to make Deke into a sweepstakes and unless Chicago needs overpaid 4's or journeyman 1/2's we ain't gonna win that one either. Nachbar is not perceived to have Skitishvili's upside so we lose there too.
Who's going to overpay him, I wonder? We don't have the money to overpay Clark, number one, and even though Deke's still a hero in Denver, I don't think Kiki will give up much to bring him to a team where he would be a terrible fit.
Well first of all, they won't trade McInnis unless they get a starter. He had a BRILLIANT season and is on the final year of his contract. They want something good in return not two backups, one of which will never play (Spoon). Aside from that, that would not clear minutes at the 4. There are no minutes at the 5. So you are splitting minutes at the 4 between Juwan, MoT and Clark? Assuming, in an INCREDIBLY unlikely situation, MoT and Juwan get 20 minutes each... that leaves a measly 8 minutes for Clark. There are no minutes at the 3 because JJ, Boki and Newble are playing there. Realistically, Mo will get 23 minutes, and Howard will get 25 minutes, which is the entire 48, and still one of them will complain about minutes. If you want Clark to play, you have to get rid of MoTaylor or Juwan Howard. Mo Taylor, Pike and a second rounder for Eddie Robinson and Mutombo. Then, IF Cleveland accepts, make the Cleveland trade. THEN you have yourself a team.
Your points are valid...my question, in reality, centered around giving up the good, but unhappy JMc + the getting out of the bad deal it made for itself with Newbie for Cleveland while for the Rox the expiring contract of Lue and the good guy who will find some way to fit Spoon. It was not a trade thread, but a 'would either/both' consider this and I remain curious because I think the concept has some merit (and, OK, I still question whether Juwann will ever don a Rocket uni or if he will be the bait to shore up the roster for a good run this spring).
