I think Green has been fine? He takes different type of shots than Jabari. Jabari gets shots that are created by guys like Green, FVV and Sengun so they are easier look traditionally. Green is running the offense in a lot of his scoring possessions. His presence is just more important. And it's preseason games.
It can still be improved. Other stars like Haliburton run the offense but are also efficient so I don't think that's a good excuse.
If he had made one more 2 pointer tonight he would have a true shooting % at 25th overall from last year. 5th highest guard and with only Curry and Lillard with more ppg than him. one single more 2 pointer. i dont think that is bad at all.
I like his offense especially his middies. He also improved around the rim but man i really don't like him on defense. The way he was advertised pre-draft i expected to see sth better than this. Not talking about perimeter d but post d. Twins on twitter gas his d up but i don't see it. Not only he is clearly unathletic but he gets beat fairly easily as well. His recovery is really bad. Maybe he needs another season like sengun. I think he took a leap offensively though kid seems to be working pretty hard i like that.
Kid just needs to bulk up and learn some tricks of the trade. Not like Dillon Brooks is extremely athletic and fast but somehow his fist always ends up in someone else's junk and slows em down. Hell remember how Artest used to hold on to other players pants? Draymond with the nut kick or Bowen sliding his foot underplayers. He'll figure out how to defend them eventually and hold his ground. You can see he has the instincts on that end which is a good start.
The best things about Jalen are his athleticism, unselfishness and vision. These are traits you can't really teach and he has them in spades. He can always improve his shooting and his defense but the fact he has good vision and is unselfish means the teams offense is gonna run smoothl because he is always willing to make the extra pass.
''What are you talking about, he is a chucker who can only score in transition or when defenses are not set up'' - President of the anti-Green club Footnote: I agree with you are saying, JG4 doesn't mind getting that elusive hockey assist and finding Sengun/Jabari so they can cook
On another note: I‘m really not a fan of Jabari trying to dribble penetrate so often. His handle is just really bad for NBA standards. He also shouldn‘t try to run a fastbreak ever in this team. I don’t mind the faceups tho.
He will be fine but yeah he is pretty mediocre athlete. Dillon took his shots in this one. On a team where only Jalen is highly athletic when talking about the starters.
Hopefully that won't be for long as I really like the lineup of: FVV Jalen Amen Jabari Sengun The only problem that I see with that group right now is that teams don't respect Amen nor Sengun's 3pt shot (yet) so spacing could be an issue during extended play with that group. All three (FVV, Jalen, Amen) were on the floor last night and the spacing didn't appear to be an issue, but it was also pre-season.
The dribble in transition is a big no-no. I hope Ime is in his ears about that. It’s just a turnover or negative possession waiting to happen. He needs to do like Horry did for Clutch city. Rebound and outlet the pass. Its a lot of things I hope Ime cleans up for the regular season

Yeah if Sengun can improve he 100% can but we should give up on our hopes of Jabari winning the DOPY award or being Mobley caliber defender it's impossible.
Yeah, physically, Smith is still a couple of years away. And I think there will be games this season when bigger frontcourts will still try to manhandle him and target him with post-ups. Spurs kind of did that with Collins in the preseason game, IIRC. But this should change in a few years as Smith gets bigger and more experienced. Outside of that, he's usually a positive on the defensive side, able to guard the perimeter as well the interior. Plus, he doesn't get flustered and get himself into foul trouble, even when he's outmatched physically. He's pretty advanced defensively given his age and experience, IMO.
