My Business Law Professor challenged the class today that if any of us could successfully name a certain treaty we would be given a nice extra credit bonus. Here is all she told us about it It was decided the treaty would not be renewed. It was a 15 year treaty that expired sometime between May 15th and May 31st 2001. It was a treaty between the United States and a Country that is close to the United States, but not Canada or Mexico. She also mentioned she has asked her previous classes this same question and no one has ever been able to respond correctly. Any of you law buffs wanna help me out here? The only thing I was able to find was some Nuclear Treaty between the United States and Russia (I was thinking this could be it since technically Russia is very close to Alaska.)
The first thing that came to my mind was the Panama Canal Treaty, but President Carter signed that in 1977 and it expired in 1999 I believe.
http://globalization.about.com/library/weekly/aa060701a.htm The treaty was signed December of 1987. 14 years.
Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Treaty seems to fulfill all the requirements, I think the whole "Close to the US" thing probably threw off all the other dumb****s who wouldn't have thought us Russia.
