My wife and I are looking to buy a new TV for our bedroom. We're currently using a crappy 13" TV with built-in VCR.

We want a TV that costs between $200 and $350 and one that is between 20 and 27 inches in size. Any recommendations?

Here are the 2 TVs I personally like:

    Toshiba 24" TV (model #24AF44)
    Sony 24" TV (model #KV24FS120)

    Any help would be appreciated!

I go with a Toshiba. I've got 2 that are 17 years old and have never had a problem - except the time my son poured water over it to see what would happen. It came back from the dead the next day when it dried out - that was 5 years ago. And the new ones have a really good picture.

Sonys on the other hand - I've never had a TV, but ever other electronic from Sony I've had has broken way before it's time.

Here's what I have in my room:
    http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.j...okmark=bookmark_0&oid=89301&catoid=-11482&m=0

27" RCA Flat Screen. 4 source input: component; s-video /or rca input; side rca; and then ofcourse coaxial. Also has rca output (mainly for sound).

Picture is bright, vivid, and has a nice blacklevel. Component video colors are nice. Sound is clear and deep, preety good bass.

Seen the same TV at Wal*Mart and there editions of RCA has built-in TV Guides, which I'm not a huge fan of.

I spent a lot of time in stores choosing a TV based on the best picture (and size) for the money and the RCA's picture was as good as the Sony Wega's.

In store the Samsung's picture looked more crisp and colors were more bright and vivid.

I will add that we bought a TV for the den a couple of years ago and it tells you what's on the channel when your surfing even if it's a commercial. Really speeds my surfing up. I know satellite has it and maybe all TVs now days have that, but I really miss that when I surf in the bedroom on my old TV. Oh well, I remember having to get up to change the channel on the 1 TV that had 3 channels.

Dang Looney, don't you know Apex makes disposable electronics? If yours is working fine, then great, but I've heard a lot of bad stuff about Apex.

I'll be putting my ProScan 27" non-flat 100 lbs. tv in my bedroom when my house is finished more than likely. That way I can get a better tv than drapg's cool tv in my family room and make him drool. :) My Rockets parties will probably be held up in the media room where I'll have a 90+ inch projection screen.

Umm... yeah, but don't expect all that anytime soon. :D

If you don't mind the smallish size and are looking for a bargain, I'd recommend a 20 inch flat screen from Panasonic. I actually just bought it for the dorm. Very nice price at $200 from Circuit City and great quality screen for the size.

A friend of mine has that very TV. He likes it just fine. I don't particularly care for it, but I think that's because he's got the settings all muddled up (for one thing, he's got the brightness too high, so there are no real blacks. It's crazy).

I researced these as few months ago and at the time Sony and Samsung had the best picture quality for CRT sets.

For a bedroom TV i would suggest finding the cheapest 27" of either a Sony, JVC, Samsung, Panasonic, or Toshiba with the least amount of features/connections (since you likely dont need em for a bedroom set). Check the closeout sets at your local stores but not floor models.

I actually just got the Toshiba 24AF44 for my dorm room/grad. present. Was looking at the exact same two TVs.

Here's a little tip- ecost.com has it for $259.99. They also advertise free shipping, but when you see the details, it excludes items over 50 lbs. I printed out the sheet, which says it's $259.99, and at the top advertises the "Free Shipping!" to Best Buy; the guy I talked to said they usually don't match online prices, but after a little work, I got him to ask his manager- I showed the printout to him, and he ok'd it with little hassle.

I think it was pgabriel who had a thread about doing that same thing a few months ago that gave me that idea.

Home Depot here in Houston sells a Magnavox 27" with built in DVD and VCR for $279. If space/ease of use is an issue that might be a good idea.

Yeah, but do you like it? :)

You summed it up perfectly! I'm really only considering Sony because my 1) my brother has one and loves it and 2) I have a Dell UltraScan Trinitron CRT monitor (made by Sony), and it has awesome picture quality.

    Hold on.

I'm actually thinking about getting a TV too...

Are we supposed to be buying "HD" TVs now? Isn't that about to take over soon? Are these TVs because talked about HD?

Also kinda want to buy a flat one, but those are expensive.

It's still in the box. Ask me again in a few days. :)

In the store, it was actually right next to the Sony- I couldn't really tell a difference in quality. I do like the fact it has enhanced 16:9 mode, which should be good for watching DVDs.

You can't really go wrong with Toshiba or Sony. But Toshiba is a little cheaper then Sony. Best thing to do is do a little research and find reviews on them.

I got lucky. We had my 31" Panasonic in the living room until my wife decided that we needed a big one. We got a 57" Panasonic and now the 31" is in the bedroom.

I bought a Toshiba 27A34 over a year ago. Its a really good TV. Good picture and almost a flat screen. About the best price to picture quality ratio I could find at the time. The Sony's seem overpriced to me.
