Basicially the only powers McHenry has are to bring up Speaker votes and recognize members who want to offer privileged resolutions (ie, the one that would empower McHenry to do more).
There's a lot of ways this situation highlights the trash fire that the GOP is; incompetent, incapable and dangerous to the country, but this really stands out. Next time you want to scoff when critics use words like authoritarian or fascist, think about this. Literally 'threats against you and your family are going to continue until you vote the way we want you to'. In a sane, functioning body this kind of thing would be intolerable and actionable, but here a not insignificant portion of the GOP uses it while the rest take this and keeps on burning. As an aside, this should also demonstrate the folly in thinking that more moderate, 'moral' members of the GOP would somehow cancel out the extremists when it comes to GOP policies regarding minorities and minorty groups. If they allow this to happen the white, straight male members of their 'own', no one should have any illusions about how hard they are going to fight for the safety or basic human rights of anyone else.
Does Jimmy receive death threats for shutting down the government and fomenting nonstop insurrection? Or does he get a circle jerk of attaboys during his constituents meeting at the Cracker Barrel?

the House of Reps ceded most of its power a long time ago now all they do is pass giant omnibus bills written by leadership and lobbyists that fund the executive branch, which sets all the policy through regulatory agencies when you have an infinite money printer and no real political concern for deficit spending, there is no need for debates on how resources get allocated

This is a good question. I don't care about the threats mainstream republicans get because there are always looks out there. But how many does Jordan, Gaetz and the rest that actually create this crisis get? What does that say when the extremists don't get threats?
The Republian party is a next level joke of a political party. They have the majority and can’t do **** unless the minoroty party does it for them.
