Wrong!!! Who cares anyway, its still 2D with nothing new really except you get to use all the characters from all the games. I dont see that as a big deal. I heard the new Mortal Kombat is supposed to be the shiznit though!
depends on your games of choice, but probably xbox. if you go the mod route, definitely xbox. and SF owns MK!
I like the XBOX more than the PS2. Integrated ethernet (network connection), integrated hard drive, and more intelligent controller design (I love the breakaway dongles). There are more games for PS2, but Halo 2 will be XBOX only, so if I were making a decision, that would trump things for me. Also, my XBOX went quite a lot longer before it needed any type of service.
i've always wanted to mod my xbox, but i dont have the technical know-how. are there any good sites, you can recommend which details how to mod. or also, are there any companies out there which do the modding for you? thanks.
Email me at treymcglaun@gmail.com Some of this is frowned upon on the board and I dont want to upset anyone. I can definitely help you (or anyone else) out that needs some info.
If you want to creat Chaos at work, buy what your fellow coworkers don't have, that way they don't borrow your games and never return them. Buy what your friends DON'T have, so that they don't mess up your games and return them scratched. Better yet, don't lend anything to anyone. Man, I'm pissed today... Anyway, PS2 kicks ass. More game choices. You can also play DVDs without having to buy extra equipment. You can play old PS1 games. Plus, it's now $149 or less at some retail stores.
Street Fighter is a classic game man. Well I have PS2 but might get an Xbox because apparently the anniversary edition won't be able to play online on PS2 but will be on Xbox
Boy, you picked a good time to buy a console. Just look at all these games coming out somewhat soon for the systems: PS2: MGS:3, GT4, SO3, Shadow Hearts 2, those platform games, Killzone ("Halo-killer," unlikely since it isn't even the same type of game, but still probably good), GTA:SA, and some more I probably forgot. If you're into flight combat, Ace Combat 5 is coming out in 2 months, and it looks good, but I don't know any flight combat gamers. Beautiful game though. XBOX: (I'll try this, but I am no where near as up-to-date on the XBOX games as I am on the PS2 games) Halo 2, Fable, Jade Empire, Doom 3, DOA:U and KOTOR 2 are all the ones I can think of off the top of my head. XBOX owners: care to help me out? Based on my preferences, I'd go with the PS2. I love my RPGs and GTA is nice. Killzone, which I mentioned will probably not be on the level of Halo 1 or 2, should be a nice FPS for a PS2 owner. It has some cool platformers, I just get them all mixed up. Also, when developers spend some time and work pretty hard on the PS2's difficult-to-code-for hardware, games look gorgeous, similiar to many XBOX games, which does have a graphical edge, but only a slight one and given the 18 months it had on the PS2, it isn't a big deal. (*jabs at Microsoft*) Anyways, that's just my preferences. If you like having some friends over and killing them in Halo, or like to kick their butt in DOA:U, go with that. And then there is the modding aspect. I know next to nothing about modding an XBOX since I don't have one, but I have learned a bit. In fact, on The Screen Savers, a tech-show on G4TechTV, they showed out to mod your XBOX without a chip. It looked pretty easy too since all you had to do is buy a game for like $17, get a Phantasy Star Online controller adapter from Microsoft for free if you call them up, and transfer some files from thumb drive to that so that it goes to the HD on the XBOX, which will then let you load them during the game, which will then run Evolution X, or whatever it is called. You can probably find an article on it at the network's site ( http://www.g4techtv.com/ ) or better yet, at the site of the guy who did it. (http://kevinrose.typepad.com/ ) I wasn't too sure on the legality of the subject, but I guess it is legal enough to demonstrate on a TV program which is being watched by a lot of people. After all, this can be used to get more out of the XBOX, like making it a file server or web server, or even a "computer" to run Linux on. And probably some other things as well... There's my take on everything. Makes me want to bring back my gaming thread so that I can put some of my thoughts on it...in fact, I think I may do that...
