Something occurs to me as this series unfolds... Are these Rangers the best team we've faced during this run? I don't think they are - and I'm making this point on feel more than actual data - but I think they're in the conversation. Again, just my own observation: I think they '17 Yankees, '17 Dodgers, '18 Red Sox were better - but I'm not entirely sure, and after that?... I don't want to in any way diminish the Astros' run - but looking back, it has been somewhat marked by not really playing many teams that were better than us. I think that '17 Dodger team was as good; the '18 Red Sox had an insane year. But nobody was better than Houston in '19, '21 or '22 (I'm throwing out '20). The Twins this year were certainly nowhere near as good. And when I say that, I mean I don't think it's been very close.
well this stros team isn't the best team in this current 7 year run. In fact it's one of the weaker years especially when it comes to the pitching rotation
Yeah to me the 2 that stand out are the 18 Sox and the 17 Dodgers. Both were really, really great teams, imo. Oddly enough, the Nats may be among the very worst of the playoff teams we faced in this run...which goes to show you how wacky baseball is, given that they're World Series Champs that season.
Chas had a 1.009 OPS vs LHP this year which is superstar level Dubon had a .859 which is star level They should both be in the lineup with Yordan at DH Also, Pena had an .834 vs LHP What I would do Altuve Pena Yordan Bregman Tucker Chas Abreu Dubon Maldanado What I expect Altuve Bregman Yordan Abreu Tucker Brantley Dubon Pena Maldanado Let's kick their ass again tonight
2017 was an incredible run because there were clearly 3 great teams, and we had to go through the other 2 to win it. 2019 we were the best team in baseball, just fell short in the end.
it's his non timely hits and bad ab's that stick out and they've been crucial. nonetheless I'm expecting a start in LF with Dubon in CF to begin tonight. Chas definitely wants to join the party and is anxious to be better
That Nats team had Strasburg and Scherzer with a red hot Soto and Rendon in the middle of their lineup.
They’ve all been singles at meaningless times and he hasn’t drawn a walk. His OPS isn’t too hot and he’s looked horrible in situations where one of those singles would have been huge.
I actually think both the '19 Nats and '21 Braves were inferior teams, certainly to those two Astros teams. And, so of course, they went 0-2....
‘17 Dodgers were clearly better than the ‘23 Rangers. ‘19 Nats were a better playoff team. Rangers have a deep lineup that is hot at the right time, but their pitching is not that great. I am pretty damned glad DeGrom and Scherzer are not fully healthy. This Rangers team seems pretty comparable to that Braves WS team.
Sure Arod- What about the road is it that makes you play so well? Yordan- Just today I was joking with the boys that next game at home we gonna have to wear away uniforms, I think the numbers say it all we play better on the road and that's what we set out to do today. We don't have any other choice but to go out and win. Translation: Big Papi- He says the the numbers don't lie they know they play better on the road and they gotta take advantaged of. Jeter- Everyone talks about how you struggle at home vs on the road but you don't struggle anywhere. How does that make you feel? Yordan- Nothing, the plan is always to go to the plate and look for something in the zone and do damage Translation: A-Rod- He says he always goes to the plate with the same approach, he goes to get a good pitch to hit and hits it. He keeps it simple. Big Papi- (Compliments him on his swing, remind him of himself) What is your mentality vs left handed pitchers Yordan- Alot of time I take it as a challenge, especially when they bring emm out just for me. I take it personal. I've said it before I don't have a preference, the ball has to cross the plate and when it does I have to try and connect. Translation: A-Rod- When he goes to the plate a little bit like Matsui he takes it as a personal battle and a challenge and he loves that challenge and he steps up for it. Dude on left- Were you mad at stolen Homerun? Yordan- The young man is a great outfielder, it surprised me the ball didn't go a little further but well that's what he is there for. Transalation: A-Rod- He actually says he thought it was a great play he's a great defender and he made a great play and hats off to him
