Entitlement spending is the bulk of the federal budget. That isn't a secret.

cole didn't say entitlement spending though. He specifically called out Medicare and Social Security.

Yes, that is the entitlement spending. Mandatory spending is between 2/3 and 3/4 of total spending. Of mandatory spending, Medicare and Social Security are the two biggest items. Those two combined are more than all discretionary spending. Defense is the largest item is discretionary spending, but smaller than those items. Medicaid is the fourth largest portion of the budget (back in mandatory spending). I suppose he could have said Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, but I doubt the complaint would have been any different. Anyone that knows anything about the federal budget knows it is Social Security, Medicare, Defense, Medicaid, and everything else. Again, this is not a secret that he was revealing, those are the areas that have to be cut.

Just because they are big doesn't mean they have to be cut.

I am looking forward to republican candidates talking more about how they plan to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid in their campaigns. Sounds like a winning story...

you intentionally omitted to address the tax revenue. if the highest tax bracket go back to the level during the Ronald Reagan era, even with this level of entitlement spending, there still would be a H U G E budget surplus.

    the highest tax bracket
    • under Eisenhower, 90%
    • under JFK 70%
    • under Reagan 50%
    • under obama 39.6%
    • the Trump tax cut lowered it to 37%

Listening to the news about the intimidation and even death threats being made to Republican Representatives who are not voting for Jim Jordan.
More evidence the GOP is the party of online bullies.

    lol...Don Bacon

Who did Mayor McCheese vote for House Speaker?

The internet might've made it easier for these fine folks, but they're still the types who would wear robes and hoods to cloak their criminality.

Social Security is not an entitlement, it is insurance that Americans pay for through the Federal Insurance Contribution Act (FICA) with every paycheck.

But like most GOP supporters, even those who lie about being libertarians, you shouldn't let FACTS get in the way of your rants.

Every time you see a republican in real life you have to laugh at them. The only way moving forward is by shame
