His adjustment to Ime's system seems slower than some other guys, but he is smart and I think will get it in time.

Why wouldn’t he be able to make layups again?

It seems to me he has adapted well on both offense and defense. He is simply failing to make easy shots that he would typically convert. It could be his conditioning is suffering, causing him to lose some lift due to the energy expended on defense.

He put on muscle and worked on extending his shooting range. He might be going through an adjustment period. He is missing free throws awkwardly too.

I just hope to see a better version of Sengun in game 4 than we saw in game 3.

Not right now he isn't.....to me he still looks like a Luis Scola level player - which is borderline all star.

Guys, quit tearing the kid down in the preseason.
He's not dumb. He will come around.
Give him (and Udoka) a few season games at least.

    Sengun: "Ahl 'an, ahl 'an!"
Scarecrow: "What did he say? I can't understand this Turkish dude."
Dorothy: "It sounded like he said, 'Oil can'. WTF does he mean by that? Oh, look! A can with oil in it! I shall apply the oil!"
Sengun: "Ahl 'ee A li' 'ower!"
Scarecrow: "What did he say now?"
Dorothy: "I think he said, 'Oil me a little lower'. What do you think he means by---oh, gosh, this Turk is a horn dog!"

He needs to prove himself a starting caliber center. There is no more Silas or KPJ to blame, Sengun's success is solely his responsibility

haha he only worked for like 12 days in 100 days. and was mostly partying. i saw him live many times. Working for instagram stories is not working for the game. he should not have joined the national team for non important games. even cedi osman didnt play (who is a borderline nba player).. muscle? shooting range? he is worse in every plus category he had. he will surely recover with Udoka, but he will be the latest to adopt to the new system...

Scola was a mature 27 when he joined the Rockets. Alpi was 19. Last season, he was more productive than Scola in his second year.

He is very much a work in progress. Jokic didn't leap into superstardom until his 6th year. I'm not saying Alpi is destined for greatness, but IMO, his upside is far higher than Scola.

Lastly, just like JG, I don't think we can fairly judge him right now because during his first two years, the head coach, locker room and organization were completely dysfunctional.

It's going to take some time for the team to conform to Udoka's mold and some of the young players will find their groove sooner than others.

I'm really disappointed in what I'm seeing from Sengun because it seems like he hasn't really worked on his problem areas at all. I wanted to see improved free throws, 3 point shooting, improvement on defense without committing too many fouls, and lower turnovers. It's really early but all of this stuff looks like it's just as bad as it always was. I don't really care to see any more great passes or nice footwork for easy shots at the rim, I already know he's good at that stuff. To take that next step he has to get WAY better in the problem areas, not improve at the things he's already good at.

Yeah yeah, it's just preseason...I hope we're looking back in 2-3 months and saying that. But this is year 3 for him and that's pretty much the deadline if he's going to make the leap to stardom.

He's much better than last season defensively. Offensively, he's filling the Daishen Nix spot so far.

You don’t see him improved defensively? I thought that was his biggest weakness? The other stuff I couldn’t care less unless he’s really going to shoot 10% for the rest of his career.

This is a great point and something I ignored in my post. His defense is better. That is one area where he has noticeably improved, and he deserves credit for that. I was too caught up in all the fouling.

Something is off with Sengun. I hope that he is just having issues adjusting to the new system. I expected he and Jalen to struggle some out of the gate due to 2 full years of Silas no pg, no defensive system. But Sengun doesn't look confident right now. No swagger. I think this is just a blip. No cause for concern unless it carries over into the season.
