Thoughts on this pickup? I don’t know a ton about him, but the few times I’ve watched him play he looked solid. Decent shot for a big man, though injuries have hampered him. OKC actually gave up to SRPs for him, so they were pretty high on him at the draft. i personally like it. We need a young, developmental big man, and he can be under club control next season for very little money.
OKC didnt have room for him anymore with all their recent picks and young talent influx. We can take a look at him for a year or two and see if we can develop him into a serviceable backup big. He has some talent to work with, just have to work with him on his role and being consistent at it. Trading KPJ in this situation was not going to get you the 'ideal' backup C. So this was a good get under the circumstances and we still have Dipo's contract we could move later if a deal is out there.
He’s not terrible as far as undersized centers go. Worth taking a look at, especially now that we have him.
Better than Garuba ever was. Can take Jeff Green’s third string center minutes once Landale is healthy.
I don't think he gets waived. He has potential, but he hasn't lived up to it yet because of injuries. He's still young and has enough upside to be worth hanging on to in my opinion. He needs to become a more efficient overall shooter though. I like him as a project, and this team could use some more bigs, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.
Yes if Sengun shoots 12% from the field the rest of the year then I’m sure someone will take his spot
6'9 tweener, decent 3, pretty bad on defense...I mean, it's something. Probably better than Terrance Jones, though that says nothing really.
Basically a 1 inch taller Darius Days. He can play center I guess which is an improvement over Days, but we also have Samuels who could already do that.
JRE had a bit of hype in the draft cycle. I recall his profile as a versatile big bodied glue guy sort. Sounds like he was trash defensively, and given the shift in Rockets culture, I don't see him sticking if he can't commit that end.
