Who would have thought New Zealand shot down Serbia & Montenegro 90-87? I thought they were the weakest link in the group, lost to weak teams China and Italy. Now the whole group is open...

Yeah but China is the lowest total scoring in their group at the moment. Good to know that its almost anyone game now.

danasty, I think they count score differential first before counting total points. Otherwise teams can just cheat by not playing defense and both score a lot.

The main difference between CNT n the rest of world is that once CNT is trailing... they give up immediately, in fact this can apply to all the Chinese teams whether it is soccer, volleyball or women basketball. Look at New Zealand, they never give up...

I still don't see why everyone thinks Serbia's such a favorite when they don't have Vlade or Peja or Jaric...

Dejan Bodiroga is considered a better player than all of those guys in Europe and shot something like 90% in the game.

"In Europe" being the key. He's practically a god over there, but he knows that he'd only be a role player if he ever reported for the Kings(who drafted him in the second round), and he's afraid to play against NBA competition (and he doesn't want to take the pay cut). Bodiroga is useless if he doesn't have the ball in his hands, and he's not exactly playing against the best competition the World has to offer in Europe... NBA scrubs like Nate Huffman are stars over there.

It would seem that a Zew Zealnad win could only help China since you already beat them. We are all rooting for you to make it. That's for sure. When you play USA in the finals I will be torn.

this doesn't seem too good for china IMHO. a open group means that even with two wins, china are not garanteed to make top 8.

I seriously doubt china can pull off more than 2 wins...
