U.S. won 77-71, but much respect to the Greek guys. Not so sure anymore that the U.S. will win this tournament...but I still think it is probable.
Just so I finish what I started - the rest of the eurosport play by play... USA-Greece 23:03 Odom drills two from the line, and it's 77-71. Stolen... USA-Greece 23:01 Missed! Papanikolau misses his shot from inside, and that might be all despite a brilliant fight from the Greek side! USA-Greece 23:00 Chatzivrettas for three!!! Another immediate foul, and Boozer to the line again. He misses both, and it's 75-71 with 25 seconds left. USA-Greece 22:59 Deliberate foul on Boozer, and he'll shoot two from the charity stripe... he hits one, and it's a seven point margin. USA-Greece 22:57 Boozer!! Grabs the offensive board and hits!! And Greece turn it over!! 74-68, and the US in possession. 41 seconds
Richard Jefferson, WTF is he on the court? This guy probably can win the worst starter award of this Olympics game.
Jefferson was also 0-6 from 3s against Puerto Rico. So far he leads all starters as the worst shooter from the floor (including all Chinese starters), thus he is qualified as a strong contender for that award. BTW, WTF has he done besides bricking the ball, shooting air balls, and using the backboard as the rim? He has done all he can to kill any momentum the US squad has. The only thing worse that he can do is to put the ball into the US basket, which I am pretty sure that he will do a mightily fine job and showcase his versatile skills.
Random thought on the boxscore: 1. Jefferson is 0/7 with 2 rebounds in 21 min. 2. Iverson is our leading scorer. But he's shooting 4/14. 3. Was LeBron having a dunkfest? 4. Our guy SPANOULIS played a whopping 2 minutes scoring 0 point, grabbing 0 rebound, dishing 0 assist, while turning the ball over 2 times. That's 1 turnover per minute. I guess it is safe to assume that he is a waste of time in terms of any hope that he will contribute.
Actually we bribed the Greek coach to sent our guy to the floor. Without these two turnovers, Team USA might have another shocker!
Thank goodness I didn't watch this game. Richard Jefferson....I officially label him the most overpaid player as of right now.
one was outside of box main thought from tv - referees favored US team and didn't whistled travelling by international rules at least 6 times.
