This was on the OC. The defense played well enough to win and so did Stroud. The running plays for negative yards over and over killed them.
Slow must have shared some of our own thoughts before the game, " now that Tunsil and Tytus are back, 4.5 yards per carry is going to be easy." ooops. That's what I was thinking on page 3 of this thread. Had too much faith in those guys. It could be that Pierce isn't the style of back for this system? Or 6 months under the new system isn't enough time for the line to function as one unit. For me, I just hate losing on the last possession after a masterful drive to get the lead. It's up there with a bullpen pitcher giving up the lead. But like someone else said there is a ton to be learned from this game.
Isn’t Will getting doubles teamed a lot? Hence no sacks. Hopefully we can get another pass rusher nxt season. Anyway I haven’t been this excited about seeing an offensive player play for the Texans since Andre Johnson. I did t really watch that many Texans games during the JJ era but CJ watching play is exciting and satisfying even in a loss.
The scheme loaded up to respond to the run and screens aimed at Bijan. They contained him, but were outschemed by Arthur Smith. He's a good coach, too, and they have some big, fast athletes in Pitt and Drake. It would have been nice to have Stingley.
DTs are supposed to eat double teams, ours do not merit that attention, thus the outside guys are getting an extra blocker on almost every play. Or there's a free interior OL to go on ahead and block an interior LB on run plays
Been saying all along, we need a legit DT to push the pocket. Will Anderson is taking on too many double teams
I hate the prevent defense.....it never works I'd rather go out guns blazing, rather than let them pick me apart going down the field.
