I am fairly irreligious (celebrate Christmas and Easter but secularly) and believe organized religions are wholly derived from men and not a higher power, but we still use it to justify our actions (but we can say they're good because God willed it). Example: much of imperialism was done in the name of Abrahamic religions. Not saying religion is inherently bad either. We didn't need to invent Christianity or Islam to justify conquering peoples, it just made it more justified. Religion is typically a governing and ethics system that people can follow. And the history of religions is very fascinating.

I am passionate about history and international political science as a hobby, and constantly think about how the world became the way it is. The development of nationalism during the 1800s changed how we think about empires. But I don't think people are at all tied to a specific land beyond this is where your parents lived. Ethnicities rise and fall. Languages are being erased. Colorism is not a way to divide people. So my views on Israel fall where they fall. Israelis have a right to live there because they won the wars to have that right. Not because their God says it is theirs by divine right.

Don't really care about the raw emotion of people reacting to events like this.

Israel has the right to defend itself and given the makeup of Palestinian terrorist forces within its population, it's unfortunate but not unexpected that there would be many more civilian deaths on the Palestinian side. It's cruel statistics.

Personally, I believe the basic living conditions and basic rights play a fundamental role, and are as important, if not more, than the killings and religious views.

It takes basic empathy skills to understand the dynamics of a entity with conventional might vs one without.

    I disagree a lot here.

For one I think the emotions expressed here shows a disconnect in applying human traits to Palestinians vs human traits to Israelis.

And the fact that we accept the condition of a much higher civilian deaths count of Palestinians as expected is not something I accept personally.

How many people talked like this during early America about Natives. "oh it's sad but it's expected".

Nah. We need to place human traits on Palestinians

Do Palestinians have a right to defend themselves?

You’re right, a lot of people do place disproportionate value on life and have looked the other way with routine loss of civilian life

however let me be really clear…

what hammas did in no way helps the Palestinian people and in most ways undermines it. You don’t go in specifically shooting civilians, raping and pillaging and then parading the bodies of the women out for public display. These people are vermin and needed to be exterminated as such. There should be absolutely no sympathy for these hammas pieces of ****

The rest of the world has been critical of Israel in the past, don’t be surprised if it’s not the case this time

Another distinction is that the Palestinians in Gaza elected Hamas to lead them. There are consequences to that when it comes to international sympathy for your cause. There's also the intractability of Hamas' position regarding Israel; "Driving them into the sea" isn't a viable negotiating position nearly 80 years after its founding.

Who is funding Hamas. Where are they getting the guns etc?

There are 2 million people gaza I don't know how you can flatten gaza without 100s of thousands dead, which will probably create a whole crop of new group terrorists, unless you want to wipe out 2 million people. Even evacuating the city won't work. Egypt doesn't want them. None of the other muslim countries want them.

    What are the consequences?
Having 5-10x the magnitude of experiencing civilian deaths than Israelis?

Sure, that's a consequence especially when your leadership deliberately hides military assets among densely-populated civilian targets.

Yes, Israel has fenced-in Gaza, but Hamas exploits that mistreatment. Another consequence is becoming a pariah because you've elected a terrorist organization to be your government. It's like if the state of Texas elected the Proud Boys to be its leadership and stood by them as they advocated for a violent killing of their enemies; that democratic outcome also means that people have less sympathy for the bad things that happen to you.

They're all dicks to each other and nobody is blameless.

70 billion is what they sold OFFICALLY and its told that they've sold another 60-70b to the Chinnese on the black market. The hamas attack took several years to plan out. The idea that somehow this is on biden when not a single penny of the 6 billion have been transfered just shows how ****ing dumb the discourse has gotten

The only person to blame here is the IDF and the HAMAS. Blaming this on biden is ****ing peak loser ****. Get your head out of your ass

Funny how you forgot how damn corrupt the Saudis are and how their in bed with Trump.

Im actually from Jordan and I have ancestors from Palestine. Its a complicated subject but Hamas is mostly to blame. They dont give a **** about the Palestinian people and they lie to them with disinformation to drive up their hatred of Israelis.

When do you think the last election was? Lets say half the people support hamas there is still a million people who don't. Should Israel kill all those people?
