because it started out back in Vietnam has a melting pot dish. since food was sometimes scarce and expensive, whatever was leftover or edible was thrown in. and it evolved from there. I mean..where else would you expect to find beef flanks, tripe, meat balls, sugar cane crystals, and cilantro all in one sitting?

The passion is reserved for Mel Gibson. Because as far as i know, the word passion was on the MOVIE by Mel Gibson.

/Nothing against Gibson, I like his other movies too. Signs is a very good movie. But the word passion is in the title of the movie, Jesus did not reserve the name, it was Mel Gibson that named the movie that way.

//By the way, I am a Christian but don't think we should "reserve" our believes into others, the guy wants to use the word passion, let him.

Just when I thought this thread had moved safely out of "derailed by religion" and into "derailed by pho".... THEY PULL IT BACK!!!!

I admit I feel a passion for a good bowl of pho in the winter. Thank god for light rail....the doorway to a world of pho for us downtown folk.

It's funny how the trolls came out b****ing about Yao on his first game but they are all quiet today. I wonder why.

I live in San Gabriel Valley in So. Cal and there's Pho restaurants on every block!! Good food tho, perfect for weight watchers. MSG is an ingredient but the better restaurants use less of it.

Star anise (licorice?) and fish sauce is what gives it its destinct flavor versus other soups.

Let's not be too carred away. Yao set an Olympic scoring record in a single game in the men's basketball, but this was done against the New Zeland team with average height of 6 foot 6 and its tallest player is only 6'11.

I love pho. But I just can't see how you can say it's healthy when the bowl is full of red meats.

Will you at least stop underestimating international teams? Yeah it's only NZL but they were beaten by Italy by 2 pts and Italy clobbered the US. Greek today almost beat the US. Yeah it's only NZL but at least Yao step up. It's anyone game now almost.
