    First time in history that a speaker has been kicked out like this. Congress can not pass any legislation at the moment. What an embarrassing display

    It will be interesting to see who the republicans push forward to replace him... and how many votes will be required. Its almost certainly going to be an extremist maga republican, so the odds anything good happens is slim and none. And Slim rode off earlier today...

    Technically the democrats did vote in favor of removing him lol. Kevin should have made a deal with them.

    Kevin agreed to these rules, what an embarrassment.

    While I don't like Mcarthy he did reach over and get help when maga folks wanted to shut down the country and did help Biden on occasion which is why he is out. I can only imagine this will happen over and over again if maga doesn't get there way............they want to burn it down, I expect a full shutdown just before Thanksgiving. Its to the point maga has a full hard on for anyone else and they will do trump`s bidding and basically shut the government down so the economy gets worse making it look like Biden`s fault. Who in the hell would want this posotion if they know they can get ousted like this............what a **** show

    I'd have probably rewarded him for that and voted to keep him as Speaker. It isn't like Dems are getting somebody better in there.

    The issue is that he also agreed to change the rules to allow a single member to bring up a motion to vacate. Under the previous set of rules, you needed a majority of either party to collectively raise the motion.

    To me, giving in on that demand was the beginning of the end. Pelosi was right to set the high threshold for bringing up this motion and McCarthy has no one to blame but himself for that one.

    Dems had the same majority as Republicans had and they passed historic legislation which is changing this country forever. Republicans can't even keep their leadership in tact

    That's my concern. Gaetz and company want chaos. They don't care one bit about a functioning government and absolutely can't be trutsed. I don't understand the thinking here on the Democrats part or how the rest of us will be better off.

    Use the chaos to get concessions from next speaker that they'll have his back. Why would dems bail out mccarthy when Kevin isn't offering anything to dems?

    Offer a year long CR? nope
    Offer full funding for social programs? Nope
    UKR funding ? Nope

    Mccarthy refused to give dems anything.
