You don't know what usage is, do you? It is the percentage of team possessions that a player terminates with a shot or a turnover. Nothing about dribbling. You're thinking of "time of procession" maybe?

I don't see how you can argue self-evident truths. Silas specifically said last season that he was not calling any plays for Smith... Sengun was coming off the bench for a good portion of the season.

You Green-ies are just soo incoherent, its impossible to converse with you on this board. When people say this (terrible) team was centered on Green (and KPJ), you take an issue... But then, when people say Green was inefficient, the response is "well he had to carry a heavy load". Don't you see the incoherence?

We did have a terrible team revolving around two mediocre guards. Maybe that was a mistake. I don't think there is anything disputable in these two statements, given #3 and #4 usage and given the horrendous results on the court.

harm doesn't have to be irreparable to be harmful. What is the benefit on non-irreparable harm?

We had a terrible team revolving around #3 and #4 that was harmful to the fanbase to watch, and harmful to the development of other young players. The harm may be repaired, but it won't give us back the last two years that were total trash...

In the grand scheme of things it may not turn out to be a big deal, but what worries me with all this stuff starting to come out now is the precedent that the Rockets are setting: if we like you, you can get away with almost anything. That willingness to give preferential treatment to someone is concerning to me personally.

I'm not saying the Spurs are perfect, they were on the mediocrity treadmill for a couple years there.

I don't remember KPJ being benched in winning time but I do remember Sengun being benched inexplicably. I remember our coach saying he "never ran plays" for our top draft pick. Unless you're talking about him being benched this season which wasn't a sure thing IMO.

Theoretically there shouldn't be irreparable harm to their development, but again what concerns me is the reputation we get around the league giving preferential treatment to a guy like KPJ, which promising young talents like Green, Sengun and Jabari saw up close. I hope it won't negatively impact their decision on whether to remain here long term. We had to overpay to get guys like FVV and even Brooks here.

But yeah I'm fine with agreeing to disagree.

We intentionally had a terrible team because we were tanking….

Some of y’all just can’t accept we were intentionally terrible. We haven’t tanked in decades and many of y’all are too soft for this. Of course the last two years were total trash…. That was the plan you.

Is it really precedent or just a blip in the context of our 2& 1/2 season tanking run?

Lot of y’all took these last few season way too seriously….

But we aren’t the Spurs…. We haven’t been that type of organization for many seasons now.

    Expectations were too high.

I’m talking about this off-season. After all the “preferential treatment” KPJ gets benched this off-season.

Just because Green wasn’t unprofessional doesn’t mean the Rockets didn’t prioritize him as well. The KPJ thing is just wildly overblown.

It’s not a big deal nationally in the wider NBA landscape. None of my NBA podcasts are discussing it in any meaningful way.[/QUOTE]

I'm very late to read this excellent report from @Clutch. But not as late as the Rockets organization is to face its problem.

Bad GMs are common in sports. We have one. Get rid of him.

You cannot get rid of mediocre owners though unless they sell.....that is the part.

    Yeah.

Except next in line is Patty Mayonnaise.

Hopefully Udoka becomes so successful he can powerplay for more influence on organization construction. Seems like he already set the line on the roster.

Can someone explain to me this heavy investment we made to KPJ?

KPJ playing point guard led this team to Udoka, Green, Sengun, Jabari, Sengun, Amen, Whitmore, and enough capspace to sign FVV and almost Brook Lopez

Gave him the goofiest NBA contract and immediately sent his ass to the bench when the tank was done. Great low risk high reward player

If KPJ out the league I want Morant out the league too

Yep. Unfortunately, that's where I think the root problem is.

Ya, cause coaches having big input on roster construction works so well! We already saw how stupid udoka is with the brooks fiasco, which is dumber then anything stone has done

Stone looked scared today. Not enough questions about the KPJ situation. He got off easy. They needed to come on strong against domestic violence in that media day.

Houston has always had the nicest sports media in the country. Today that really paid off for Stone. Props to Jackson for being the only person to ask an appropriate yet pointed question about the KPJ situation. Stone did what I knew he was gonna do, slither out of the question by offering a fake answer and then scurrying back into his hole. You won’t see an ounce of accountability out of this front office.

it was funny to watch Stone’s face as reporters asked follow up questions about how we improve team culture lol.

I imagine everybody was super excited for media day and Stone woke up knowing he was in for a day of hell with KPJ questions lol

It felt like the journalists were pre-briefed that they would get to ask Stone/Ime a question about it, but that asking any of the players about KPJ would be totally off-limits.

Yeah probably cause they know if the ask a bunch of 20 year old about the situation they are liable to say something stupid and dig themselves their own hole from one bad quote

Let the witch hunt die boys. Y’all don’t seem to be happy until Stone is lynched next to the banners. How many questions on KPJ can he really answer. How many different questions can be asked and answered

Yeah Stone not owning up to making a mistake and fostering an environment that enabled Porter to carry on without consequence is a big stain on his reputation for me. I hope at some point Lucas will speak on it as I still cannot believe he allowed the guy to do what he did. Same with Lionel Hollins, but that guy was with one foot out the coaching door anyway. He seemed much less interested and was just a name on the bench.
