I hope the DBacks are scoreboard watching because the Cubbies are down 3-0

Unfortunately, the Marlins are winning as well so Arizona will most likely fight to try to beat them out in the seeding.

Arizona 12 outs from getting into the post season.

Arizona would like to be the 6 seed and play Milwaukee and then their rival Dodgers. They want nothing of the Braves.

In that case, they need to lose out.

If the Rangers/Astros/Mariners are all even at 89 wins and the Bluejays will have 90 wins.

Who will win the west and who will be out?

    Head to head :

    Rangers has tiebreaker over Mariners
    Astros has tiebreaker over Rangers
    Mariners has tiebreaker over Astros

Zero chance of rooting for the Rangers. Astros need to win the division to have a decent chance of repeating as champs.

Avoid the WC round and get to set the rotation - get Pressly and the pen a little rest.

Mariners win the West. Rangers are eliminated. Astros with the WC.

Cubs already up 6-0 on the Brewers. Diamondbacks need to win for their own playoff chances.

Cardinals up 5-0 on the Reds in the first inning... and still batting. Good for Diamondbacks

Not sure there if that game is far enough along to affect how Arizona approaches tonight. In an ideal world, if the Reds are up 10-0 Arizona could not start Kelly to keep him available to start a WC series. Maybe more likely is they pull him early or handle their bullpen more conservatively.

Edit: The scenario of Arizona resting players is getting closer. It's now 8-0 and St Louis is still batting with men on 1st and 2nd and no outs in the 2nd.

We stole the division from the Rangers, we bought ourselves some off-time.
Now we can rest our guys and lineup our starters.

Whoever you were rooting for, it worked out perfectly!
