Underestimating the role 1 veteran on an island of crazy rookies can have, I think. 10 wins is unreasonable though.
There is really only one plan: Develop the young players. I don't think the plan is aimed at number of wins, be it low (tank) or high (play-in). The differences between the so-called pro-tank and anti-tank crowds are these: 1. How many games do you think this young team can win? 2. Will you be happy or mad/disappointed if this young team wins a lot of games that practically put us out of the Wemby sweepstake?
Disagree with you there. It's about intent. Tanking is intentionally throwing games to get a worse record to improve your lottery changes. Developing youth means you acknowledge the best way to learn is by making mistakes. So you are actively trying to win games while putting players into teachable moments so they can learn and improve and minimize mistakes over time. In tanking, players don't get to learn at crucial times cause you pull them out of games during crunch time. The results may look the same. The process you take is very very different.
Strawman? Literally, I have not seen a single person suggest this team, as constructed, are contenders.
Semantics. Our intent is to suck by intentionally putting together a roster that very likely will suck. Thus intentionally throwing games we could otherwise win if we put together a better roster to improve our lottery odds to add better talent and at the same time develop current talent. If this roster was intended to win then people should get fired. Tanking rarely if ever involves situations where players are pulled from a game in crunch time for fear of winning the game. MAYBE at the very end of a season where extreme maneuvering is necessary, but the situation you described isn’t happening in the middle of the year. In the event that teams crappy rosters actually have a player who has proven to effect wins, rather than play them then pull them in crucial moments teams find ways to rest those guys for entire games. (SGA in OKC) I’d argue the type of players we are trying to find, the best of the best, aren’t effected in any way by tanking. SGA is still widely viewed as one of the best young players in the league. Embiid is an MVP candidate.
@AlperenSengun and @astrosrule I said 8 wins in first 25 games. We won 7, beat 4 playoff teams from previous season in: 76ers, Mavs, Hawks, Suns

Obviously it must include the shaming and ridicule of the guys that downplayed the ability of a Stone built roster to compete!
Ah, the naive hopes that Jalen Green was legit and that Jabari Smith would live up to the hype. That sure died quickly.
All you so called Fans need to take note !!! WE WILL MAKE A STRONG START TO OUR NEW SEASON 2023 - 2024 Get ready for it !!!! Y
They should be playing for the play-in spot, however, I expect them to finish anywhere between 8-12. If they miss the play-in, i would expect them to finish no more than 2 games away from the 10th spot.
