I honestly think he is just overthinking and getting into his own head. Like even when he has a good stretch; instead of enjoying it he will feel it is not enough or minimize it. Bregman was at his best when he was carefree and just having fun out there.

It is like his entire demeanor and attitude has shifted to be more "business like" and nearly stoic the past few years and his production has tailed off with that shift of mentality.

ever since the scandal broke he has been different. Also, the ball was juiced those 2 years that his hr totals were so high.

I never expected him to be a HR guy. 2018 and 2019 really surprised me, but after that my expectations changed.

He is extremely streaky but over 162 games still a very good player to have. 5 WAR is very good.

I just reset my expectations back to where I had them after 2017 - .350 OB% / 750-800 OPS guy who walks a ton scores a ton of runs and will pop about 15- 20 HR without striking out much.

The problem is counting on him day to day or week to week. Streaky should have a picture of him in the dictionary.

I'd be surprised if Bregman gets to 100 RBI on the season. On the flip side, it's wild to think Yordan is likely going to get there.
Not sure why Bregman moved back up to the 2-hole. He's always been horrible there.

Also...has Tucker's home run power capped out at 30/season?

Alex is as streaky as they come and on a downswing. I actually think batting order effects him less than most, but he was an absolute beast in the #2 spot prior to this slump.

Alex Bregman gets a lot of **** from Astros fans.

He has overall been very durable in his big league career. He is a very good fielder. He gets on base and works the count. You can hit him just about anywhere in the order. He has finished in the top 20 of MVP voting three times.

For his career he has nearly 40 WAR and doesn't turn 30 years old until next year. For his career he has almost as many walks as strikeouts. His career OPS is over .850

He is for his career a 6 WAR per 162 games player, which is a star.

Even with the struggles, he has been a 4.5-5 WAR player the last couple of seasons.

    This year he is likely going to finish with 25 homers/ 30 doubles/ 100 runs/ 100 RBI/ 90 walks and an OPS+ of around 120.

I get that he doesn't usually get as hot as Yordan or Tucker - but he is a very good player.

He has a really solid chance of 70 WAR in his career if he stays healthy, which is inline for being a Hall of Famer - and that makes sense, as a lot of his comps are Hall of Famers.

I prefer the more stoic Bregman, it shows maturity and humility. There was a time he was really into trash talking and getting into Twitter wars, etc., stuff that usually puts you on the wrong side of karma. He has always been a bit streaky, starting from his debut when he was 0 for 16 or something like that start off. He's the kind of guy that always works to see what he can do to improve, almost to the point of overthinking (trying different playing weights, swing changes). Bottom line he is a hell of a professional and I hope he's an Astro for life.

He’s very stoic on the field which most people mistake for arrogance. But he’s not a douche at all, does charity work, makes times for fans, learned Spanish so he could talk to his teammates.

People remember his monster 2018-19 seasons and thought that was the guy that would show up every year.
Not totally fair I suppose, but its the difference between a player that instills fear into his opponents and not.

The Astros cannot leave Seattle without the ability to control our own destiny.

I would take a split of the next two games if you gave it to me.

If Seattle wins the next 2 they will likely still be 4 back of the Rangers. And once the Rangers win 1 of those 4 games, they will lie down and lose the other 3. Season over mathematically. Unless Toronto wants to go on a losing streak to end the season.

Even a split puts us in a precarious position. Texas would need to only win one of the four games vs Seattle, again prompting them to lose the other 3. We would be forced to win 2 of 3 against a very desperate Arizona team trying to make it themselves.

Pray the Angels win at least 1 of these next 2 games vs Texas.

    Alex is my favorite player.

I do wish he was less streaky though.

With runners in scoring position, which batter is so feared that they are the most likely to get 4 straight balls?

Hint: It rhymes with Calyx Smegman.

I thought he was getting more consistent as the season went on, until the last month or so obviously.

There are at least 3 players on the team that as an opponent, I would have more fear of than Bregman.

Hint: They rhyme with Gordan, Shucker and Hosay.
