Do you think that the ROX should go after DEKE and GP. I'm a little skeptical about going after GP but at 5.4 mill a season I think that we should. Maybe give Boston CW or Ward. What do you guys think?

Your right about Ward but how about CW. The ROX is in dying need of a reliable PG. The reason why GP didn't produce last year was because of the Triangle offense. I didn't think that there was any room for him to fit in over there. IMO GP was always a great slasher just like TM and with YM being such a good passer he will be open on most cuts to the hole.

Unfortunately we can't trade Ward for a while. The only way we would be able to give up a PG and get Payton in return is if we send them Lue. It would be nice to send them CW for Payton, but why would the Rockets send away a PF/C for another PG? Sure we have a lot of guys at the PF position, but in my opinion I'd rather have too many big men than too many little ones. I'm not saying CW is more valuable than Payton is, but judging by what we have and what we can send I think we'd be better off with CW than Payton.

Just say no to the mitten. I saw nothing in his play last year that tells me he'd be an upgrade over our current PG rotation - or an improvement to our chemistry.

I like how everybody is ragging on Payton's bad year, but disregarded Fisher's bad season as an "off year".

Three teams in a row have seen Payton up close for a year or more, then given up on him. Seattle, Milwaukee, and now LA. That is a bad trend.

I'm surprised no one has asked why we needed a new thread on this.

Maybe so, but to me the Lakers looked so much better with Fish in than Payton that it was like night and day. And while DF may not have had a good year last year, he didn't get abused by Steve as much as Payton did. It was embarrasing.

I don't give a sh*t about GP being able to play better in a different offense...the fact remains that he is a locker room cancer. And we all know how well we did the last time we had a selfish point guard with attitude.

Agreed, he was always an ahole who alienated teammates, but he used to be so good he had a somewhat positive impact on the team. Now his quickness and skills have deteriorated, he has nothing to offer.

I would not want him for the minimum--I rather go with Lue, Sura and Ward.
