Where? I been to a few restaurants in Houston that have it, and it's just not that good. I'd like to know a restaurant that can make them taste good and not just feel like I'm eating bread.
Have you considered going into wine tasting? My wife has a very good sense of smell, and she captained her Oxbridge University's wine tasting team and blind wine tasting team. Nerdiest hobby I have ever seen. I mean, I can barely distinguish red and white wine.
I'm a picky eater. Things I don't eat: Cilantro (coriander): I have the genetic test to prove that it tastes like soap to me. It overpowers every other taste. I hate it. Will tolerate it in salsa and guacamole, when unavoidable. But it's the main reason I dislike most Vietnamese food. Any fish or seafood: I just find it disgusting. I will sometimes eat caviar, but only with a lot of condiments and a lot of vodka and champagne to flush it down. Pork and chicken and venison and lamb: Don't like it. I guess I will sometimes have a bit of bacon bits or something. Really, the only meat I eat is beef, and that only well done. And I can only really eat it because I force myself to not think about what I am actually eating. Liver, etc...all that disgusting intestine stuff. No way. I used to not eat a lot of veggies, but I have gotten better when it comes to that. E.g., I would never eat avocado, now I eat it all the time. Edamame, same thing. I am also not especially fond of Indian food. Will not seek it out. Embarrassingly, the truth is that I have the taste of an 8 year old. I like pizza, pasta, potatoes, fries, ketchup, rice, bread, waffles...basically, almost an all-carb diet. Not good. Tried for a few weeks to cut out all carbs and lost close to 30 pounds. What do I like? I love berries - strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, especially. Peaches. Apples. Bananas. Tomatoes. Mostly, I love red fruits. P.S.: When I am invited at someone's home, I will try to eat whatever they put on my plate. That's just how my mother raised me. When I was in Houston, my Puerto Rican girlfriend's mother made a special effort to make a Puerto Rican seafood stew for me...I kept saying how delicious it was. Managed to eat it while drinking 3 cans of coke! My girlfriend who knew I hated seafood was secretly laughing her ass off!
Gawdam dood. You basically survive on water and bread. You seem to have traveled many places in the world and you cant stomach squat. I pity you.
I have to ask... You mentioned you don't like those meats but those 4 in particular are so different from each other. Textures, fat content, taste... I mean, what is it you don't like specifically? Myself- definitely go for dark meat chicken before light. Light meat is so dry. I can understand an aversion to veal but lamb is tender and buttery. It's also a very healthy meat to consume. Venison backstrap is a delicacy. Deer bone soups are great too. Pork is like the tastiest meat because of the fat. And all the varieties countries have on it? Sisig, carnitas, pulled pork, rum ham, tonkotsu ramen...
Well... the cilantro thing you have a real reason for not liking it! I'm surprised on the chicken and only well done beef?!! You're really missing out on steak! At same time since you're willing to eat/at least attempt whatever is put on your plate when invited over makes it better. Especially powering through the Puerto Rican seafood stew! I was raised same way on eating what's put on your plate (when invited over etc.).
Now I'm trying to wrap my brain around that ATW loves to vacation in the islands - Maldives, Seychelles, etc - and does not eat seafood. So naturally he moved to Florida. ATW, we love ya buddy, but you're gonna catch some s!!t for a minute.
Main courses I like: Bulgogi with rice, lots of rice Bibimbap (each of those with a lot of Gojujang) Pasta Pizza Steak (especially Argentinian or Brazilian) and potatoes (all kinds) Ramen, but I choose the spicy vegetarian ones Some basic regional German dishes, yeah, some of them have some pork now that I think about it @Derp McFlopsky - I can't really explain what I don't like, specifically, it's just an intuitive preference, not something rational. In general, I have reduced my meat intake and have increased my range of vegetables I eat, and the frequency of eating them. And berries. Berries, all the time.
Not really a picky eater but there are some foods I don't like and others that do not agree with me. I try to avoid them. I will try new things, but I don't get too far out of my comfort zone.
Food wise (and ladies wise), I should have moved to Argentina. Or Italy. BTW, haven't been to Seychelles and Mauritius...still on the bucket list. And Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica, Iceland, New Zealand, Bora Bora, Guam, Fiji, Okinawa, doing a Safari, etc. But less frivolous travel since the kids arrived. Maybe I'll first take them to some of the places I have already been to, when they are a bit older. Also, I do try local dishes, just not ones with fish and seafood and stuff. Weirdly, I do like hanging out at beach restaurants where they grill fish and so on. I just don't eat it.
You would fit right in in Argentina for sure. They don't like spicy food, don't eat seafood, love italian. Go to Chile and then head all the way south, it's worth it, and easier travel from there vs via Argentina
