To tell you the truth, I don't remember the rooms very much since I've been in dozones of hotel rooms. I just remember the great service. The bellman remembered my name and greeted me every time I came in. By far the best service I've ever got from an hotel, and I've been to alot of pretty expensive ones.
I've been lucky enough to travel a good bit so I've stayed in various places. I've stayed at Hiltons and Ritz's to Days Inn and Holiday Inn. To be hoenst, none of the chains really stand out. So here are my results: BEST: The Adolphus - Come on guys, where's the local love? This is the finest hotel I've ever been to from food to service to the lobby to everything. I absolutely loved this place. WORST: Some random place in Abbeville, France - There was NO air conditioning and this was the middle of summer. We were forced to open the window, thus letting in hundreds of flying creatures as well as the great noises of trucks. The service was worse than the attitudes of the people and the pillows weren't really pillows -- they were logs.
hotel posada in zacatecas, mexico was the worst. dried up turd behind the toilet, latino gangster graffitti on the wall and smelly cots for beds. 3 beds for 20 bucks though and a central location w/ a nice view of the colonial part of town. except for the turd it was quite a bargain. the best hotel i ever stayed at was also in mexico, but at a place called las pozas in the state of san luis potosi. 50 a night got us a 3 room cabana w/ 4 beds that had a balcony overlooking a waterfall on a small river. we could pick limes off a tree from our balcony and go swimming in the falls right by our room. not the nicest place ive ever stayed in, but definately the most memorable. cheesiest place would have to be circus-circus in las vegas. gotta love the 70's decor and barnum and baley theme.
yeh, hilton hawaiian village. it probably was a lot like disneyland...but the last time i was there i was around 12, so that was a huge bonus .
Hmm. I've basically lived in a hotel for the past 4 years of my life, and have stayed in some nice and some not so nice places. Best: Penthouse level, Palace Tower of Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas. When I called b/c I couldn't find the ice machine, the lady told me that the butler would immediately fetch me ice and bring it to me. That was cool. As was the flat screen tv in the bathroom. The view of the strip was badazz too. Other nice places: Suite in the St. Francis in San Fran, Suite at the W in Atlanta, Hyatt San Fran (just for the view of the bay), Westin Atlanta (just for the fact that my room was on something like the 67th floor), Westin Cincinnati (not b/c the hotel was nice, but every visiting baseball team stayed there and I saw lots of celebs). Crapholes: Coachlight Inn, Giddings, Texas - roaches. Four Points by Sheraton, Boston - smoking room, general lack of anything nice.
Best: Not much to choose from here. Probably the Wyndham in Dallas. I'm going to Vegas in 2 weeks and staying at the Golden Nugget(yes, the one on TV), so that will probably change. Worst: Tie between The Sands Motel(1 in Austin and 1 in Memphis) and the Seahorse Inn in Galveston. Those were some serious dumps.
Worst: Tie - The Seahorse in Galveson, The Hilltop motel also in Galveston. Luckily the Hilltop has since been torn down. Last time I stayed at the flagship in Galveston also deserves a horrible mention. Best: A suite at Ceasar's Palace in LV.
Best: The Aladdin - Las Vegas (Honeymoon suite and I do mean SWEET!) Doral Saturnia - Miami The Boulders - Scottsdale, AZ La Cantera - San Antonio Worst: Hee Haw Hotel - near Nashville
Really? I've never been personally, and it's a world-famous hotel, but all I ever hear about it is how much of a rip-off it is. The nicest room I've ever stayed at was probably the suite I stayed in at the Bellagio. The nicest hotel I've stayed in(Just a normal room, though) was probably the Four Seasons Chicago. Worst hotel? A Days Inn or something of that sort in LA.
As a general rule when money is an issue I try to stay at Marriott chains, Fairfield Inn, Courtyard, Residence Inn or Marriott. I've found they usually tend to be in good shape.
I stayed in this one dump in LA for a couple of days before I could move into my new apartment. Just to start things off on a right foot, a hooker opened the door for me. And there was somebody in the next building that played spanish music really, REALLY loud. Eventually one guy started yelling at them to, "Turn the ****ing music off." But the place was clean and there were no cockroaches. The shower just dribbled cold water, but all in all it wasn't so bad.
ugh. Marriott hotels have the worst beds ever. I don't know why they get those stupid 3-inch foam mattresses. I HATE them. Best hotel: 1.) Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. That place was just pimp. Worst: Sandman Motel somewhere in Mississippi.
Best: Victorian Inn (I think that's the name) in Galveston. Its one of the nicest places I ever stayed at, and also the most memorable family vacation I've ever been a part of. Close second: Prytania hotel in NOLA. Best place I've stayed in in the absence of my family - it wasn't extremely great, but I just loved the setting and location. Worst: Econolodge or Economotel (I don't care to remember which one) just north of Corpus Christi. Scary room, stained sheets and mattresses with cigarette burns, the bathroom didn't even have a real shower curtain, the room smelled funny, and there was a creepy guy standing outside our room when we checked in, and when we woke up and left the next morning.
Best: Al Burj Dubai, MY dads bonus 3 years or so ago. Greatest thing ever. Worst: The Hotel I stayed in Delhi two weeks ago, Sucked ass, and the sheets had spots on em, the AC had a leak and blew half hot air. There were ants on the floor, and the electricity went out at 3 am... and teh elevator, well lets just say it be safe only for one person at a time.
Best: The Ritz-Carlton in Boston. I was there for 10 days on a business trip in 1995 and that is where they put me up. Imagine the scene as I am standing in line to check in, wearing knee-less jeans, a torn TShirt and a leather jacket, with my hair dyed red, next to all these yuppie f*cks in their fine business attire. Worst: The Radisson in New Orleans. They were in the middle of remodeling and there was a college fraternity convention going on at the hotel while I was staying there. I almost shot a couple of people that weekend.
I don't think there has ever been a Hyatt in Whistler. Did you mean the Chateau Whister? If so, that's a Fairmont property. Speaking of which--the Fairmont Vancouver Airport might just be the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in--and I've actually stayed at some pretty nice places. It's hard to imagine that such a nice place could be in the middle of an airport, but it was. The really nice thing was that when our flight left at six the next morning, all we had to do was take an elevator down to the international departure terminal.
Best: Hyatt Regency in Downtown Chicago and Ballys in Vegas aint to bad either Worse: some 30 Dollar joint in richmond, virginia, heard gunshots at night and women screaming
