28 starts with Meyers in CF/Chas in LF (14-14 record). Though the vast majority is with Maldy (8-13 record)*. Only 5 times with the big boys, Pena, Diaz at C, Chas, and Meyers (5-0). *Yordan in LF is the only LF to have a winning record with Maldy as catcher. Though, this is probably due to Julks having a 0.484 OPS at DH according to the Dusty supporters.
For the rest of the season these players should play every game: Altuve, Bregman, Pena, McC, Tucker, Alvarez, and Diaz. Not even any question about it. Two spots remain. Brantley should be one and if he can't go then Dubon. Abreu should play as well (but bat in the bottom 3rd). On the one day Maldy has to play Diaz goes to first. It is so frigging simple yet our manager still can't understand the basics of a lineup. God I HATE him!
Can't have your DH play a day game after a night game. Although the 37 year old catcher did it repeatedly early in the season...
This lineup also gives me no hope that Dana Brown is going to work out as a GM. Not impressed with him so far. Didn't like his draft, wasn't thrilled with the trade deadline (but not thrilled with anyone's really), don't understand the pitching call ups lately (Kuhnel and especially Sousa are useless). Never stood up to Dusty. Not liking it so far.
Just as I feared, this is coming down to the Seattle series. This team just feels uninterested in winning. If they had just won: 1 of 3 vs Seattle 1 of 3 vs Yankees 2 of 3 vs A's 2 of 3 vs Royals Then: Astros 88-64 Rangers 83-68 Mariners 82-69 4 1/2 game lead and Magic number of 6 with 10 games left. But instead Seattle is in control of the division due to the tiebreaker. Mariners magic number: 11 w/ 11 to play. Astros magic number: 11 w/ 10 to play.
Wait until they go to Arizona and play that lineup of rabbits. They’ll steal at least 10 bases in that series.
This team is 7-10 this month despite averaging 6.1 runs per game and scoring 7+ runs in 8 of them. They have lost 2 games in the past 4 days when scoring 7+ runs. Pitching is the issue not hitting or scoring runs.
The defense has also been an issue... we lead the league in unearned runs... and extra outs mean more worn out arms and higher pitch counts.
10 games left and lost control of division to Seattle. All hands on deck if you actually care about winning the division. Off day tomorrow and another one 6 games later. Dusty has no sense of urgency
