Apparently the new trend is if a player is unhappy all he has to do is say he won't show up for practice to force a trade. Which makes you wonder what the point was for ever making them sign the contract in the first place. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a clause in their contracts that stated if they choose to whine, cry, and not honor their contracts the contracts would be voided and they would be unable to resign for more then the MLE?
So you are saying that you want a rule to prevent us from getting TMac? btw: there is a clause in their contract to say they must honor their contracts. It's just that whining and crying is too ambigious to describe in a contract. btw btw: wouldn't it be nice if we could have marriage contracts were whining is no reason for divorce. btw btw btw: if you say "no" to the previous "wouldn't it be nice" then you are a whiner. hehe
no edit: so your rule means we should never have been able to get Francis, too. Nor Mutombe now. How about that whiner Peja?
A long time ago we had a type of iron-clad labor contract that did not allow breach, whining, or dissent or any kind. We called that slavery and thought it was a pretty bad idea.
of pro sports the NBA has the best contract best balance between players and management baseball is too PRO PLAYER football is too PRO MANAGEMENT Rocket River
yea . . until in year three someone says they would give you an addition 6 yr 100 mil if u whine out or they would give u the same contract plus a CHAMPIONSHIP think about something that is important to you MOST IMPORTANT to you . . . and say it has a time limit on it willing to give it up FOREVER to honor that contract? esp AFTER u financially secure? IMO people say this sh*t all the time but in the same situation they would do the same thing if u have the power . . .YOU USE IT Rocket River
yeah, but since you would be the worst player in the nba (and no doubt playing for the warriors since they're the only ones who would give you that contract) no one would give a damn. they'll let you rack up the splinters on the bench and not care whether you're happy or not. now, since tracy mcgrady's contributions actually matter (and matter a lot) they would rather not have him pissed off for a whole year and just get what they can get for you. they can make you stay there if they want, but you pissed off and lowering your trade value by the day versus getting good value right now is an easy choice. same with shaq, same with vince if he really wants out. now if dan langhi demands a trade, who cares. like RR said, if you have power to get something you want (which star players do, even under contract), use it. it isn't as if the team is gonna be nice to you if they have the power to get something they want using you. and hell, it worked out for us in a huge way twice (getting francis for chump change and then getting tmac) so i'm all for it as of now.
Have you ever quit a job ? Would you work for Macdonals over something pay you better coz it's a more "winning" organization ? Can you buy an asset like Yao for virtually free ? Real Madrid just payed 12 million euros for Michael Owen. NBA defies the basic rules of this world.
