I'm concerned that Yao's still not in shape. If he's not in shape by now, when will he get there? There's something he's not doing, or that he needs to do differently... I wonder if he's had any medical evaluation besides drug testing. Something's wrong.

Yao seemed like he had a lot to say at the end of the game. He looked pretty pissed.

I can understand his scoring only 12 points, but his rebounding to me looked weak. He was just looking too slow to the ball, just like most of his teammates. Not anywhere in Spain's league in quickness.

Really pissed me off seeing the Spanish players get so many easy layups with their interior passing. Again Yao just didn't factor in down in the post as much as I thought he could. Yao's teammates were horrible in team defense, so I guess Yao can't cover everybody.

I just hope Yao doesn't spend too much time whining and bust out with a huge game next time.:(

It always amazes me when the excuse machine rolls out for Yao. He needs the right back-up. This type of game doesn't suit him. His teamates don't know how to work with him. The guards are taking his rebounds. Blah Blah Blah. Maybe we should be asking ourselves is Yao really a true franchise center. I've never heard these type of questions about Hakeem, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq, Mourning, Moses, Kareem, etc. And that's just the franchise centers I've seen in my life time.

I also wish we have Duncan. but right now Yao is our best option.
Yes, better than KG and Dirk. So please sit back and watch him
    improve.

I think eventually Yao will become a big man's Rik Smith. Career average will be 17-19pts, 8-10 rebs, not bad, not bad at all for a big man.

But I just have a hard time to see how he will be a franchise, dominate player in NBA. Too manys holes in his game.

We can make a tipjar bet Yao will be a 20-10 center for at least
    six years.

    Spain:

    5/25 20% 3pt FG
    26/41 63% 2pt FG

    China:

    9/26 35% 3pt FG
    11/36 30% 2pt FG

Like I said, Spain had their way around the basket.

Sane, I sincerely hope you ar correct.

I did not mean to imply that Deke was not good enough. I merely meant that we should not settle for less as some other posters have proposed.

    Nuff said.

Don't worry, I'm sure Yao will average 30 pts and 70% FG shooting the rest of the way.

    ;)

One thing I'm going to like about the team this year is that when Yao is fatigued, we hand the reigns of the team over to one of the top 5 players in the league for the remaineder of that game. Nice luxury.

Don't worry about Yao. It's just a game. How could you find anything about Yao from it?

I'm not that pessimistic like you (no offense). Actually, I feel very happy on what Yao has done. We all know the Chinese team and Spain team are not a match. I don't quite care about what the result is. What I like most is that I found that Yao has the desire to win and want to take the leadership, things we did see in his NBA games, and he really showed that after the game and a move rarely seen from him. If Yao has that attitude in next season, I think Rockets will have a bright future. As for his conditioning, stats and anything else, they are all improvable or mendable by the Rockets coaches and teamates. The attitude is the hardest thing to acquire for Yao if you watched his games in the last two seasons. I did and I was so pisted off on his attitude in a game he was playing with Worriors, but now I don't worry that way any more. I'm happy.

You know, it's kind of weird looking at these posts and watching the game; it's almost like we're all rooting for the CNT like we would be rooting for the Rockets. During the game, I actually felt myself getting frustrated with the CNT, and I even found myself yelling at the TV a couple of times. And now that I think of it, I probably would root for Yao if he went up againt the US, too. It's amazing what one guy can do to a city. Sorry - presume :)

he's already surpassed Rik Smits. What the heck is a big man's Smits? someone who's 3 inches taller? he's averaged more minutes, points, rebounds, blocks, assists, filed goal %; literally every statistical category more than RIk smits has in his career, and more in any one season except for a season where he aveaged 2.06 blocks and his peak at 18.1 PPG. Yao had done this not only with double teams that Smits never got but has shown how much impact he has on his team he has. Why are we even going through this? It's been done so many times. End of story.

Geezus, the man gets stuck on a bad team that plays one bad game and everyone thinks the sky is falling  Wait, it's not even a team I care about  All this does is shut up people who thinks that we should have 4 dopes dump the ball to Yao and then get out of his way. Can we please shut the fuq up now? With the way some of you ladies are carrying on, you'd think that this was the NBA season debut.

Yao is feeling the SF syndrome, once he get back in th NBA with a better teammates it should go away.
