The 7/8 from 3's. Is this a Dillon who benefits from SGA's gravity when other team doubles SGA.

Is there a Rockets version of Brooks where maybe he's not creating, but if Sengun/Green are doubled, he actually ends up provide the spacing that we didn't think he could.

Generally when you shoot like 80 percent from 3 you should keep shooting. If you watched any of the FIBA games Brooks shot selection has basically been perfect, if he feels like he's cold he attempted single digits a game max. When he's shooting well he will shoot more based on team needs.

This is actually a great sign if he can maintain this. Also all tournament he deferred to SGA and Barret, his only two high volume games are where Barret went really cold and no one else was scoring. Otherwise he was quite passive on offense

You can read his game log here. There's games where he shot only 4 or 5 times a game. Just a perfect tournament imo

This thread is about whether or not Brooks should be the FIBA version of himself, not the Memphis version of himself. It's pretty pointless to bring up his Memphis version since no one is disagreeing that he shouldn't be that guy.

The person I responded to felt that in the Bronze medal game he acted like a Hero and therefore it's bad because he'll continue to think he's a hero in Houston. I debunked that, and really anyone who watched the highlight would easily see the falsehood in that statement. He took open 3s. He drove to the basket. He was not isoing. He was not putting up 20 footers with hand in his face and making them. He is taking normal role-player type of shots that he has to take in any cohesive offense.

The fact that he made them at such a high clip, and the fact that he put up 18 shots because he played 42 minutes on a team with only one offensive star player, doesn't mean he was trying to play hero ball.

Pretty sure this is an NBA discussion board first and foremost and 7 years of Memphis data beats 1 month of FIBA.

No worries. We will be opening up a In-Season Brooks Thread soon enough and he can become the Go to Scorer and Lock down Defender there.

"Hero ball" doesn't have to be isos. If Brooks had been a model citizen his whole career, we would not have this conversation. He has been taking a lot of shots in Memphis when he was the 4th best scorer on the team. And he was quoted to say that he wanted a larger offensive role. That's the concern. If you think he will become great at shot selection from now on because of how he played in the WC tourney, fine. But that's not guaranteed, not even likely given his personality and history.

What is guaranteed is that he will not sustain a 78% TS% efficiency. He had been red hot in a handful of FIBA games. Nobody should expect that to continue. The concern is that the hot streak may reinforce his self-delusion that he is a great shooter.

Kudos to him, but he played average ball up to that Spain game and then turned it on.

That was the perfect timing to stage a play like this, to orchestrate and vilify himself.

He is just too much of an actor. A good scorer and a great character actor.

But does he have enough Gravitas and Pathos....to be the greatest of actors....

”I used my own subjective opinion to totally ‘debunk’ this other guy’s subjective opinion!”

You must be really, really pleased with yourself… My guy, did you hear how obnoxious this was when you typed it…?

Canadians are doing pretty well across the board.

    Dort shooting 53% from 3.
    Barrett shooting 42% from 3.
    Olynyk 41.7% from 3.

Jamal Murray is a stud no matter playing in the WC or not.

    Dillon 64%......

Nikeil Alex Walker is playing worse than in the WC.
