At least the possibility of individual accolades exists. Not sure we've had that in a minute. With that said, I think if Wembanyama farts on an NBA court this year ROTY will be gift wrapped for him. Too much butt kissing is at stake, they've basically already crowned him and it's gross. Porter as 6th man is a strong choice but I honestly couldn't name competition for it. If he just equals his production but from the bench role he's a really strong choice as 6th man. Jabari MIP is also a strong choice, mans had a fantastic SL run and I'm willing at this point to believe rookie year was just a struggle. If he comes back shooting high % 3s and playing D that's a contender for sure. Brooks all-team seems very likely. Guy is just a good defender. "Most likely" maybe him getting another nod on defense, if you're braining it and not hearting it. Bottom 3 are unlikely imo, but would show signficant growth for any of them. Who you got?
Just changing your thread slightly Future Award winners: Amen Thompson-MVP Jabari-MIP Jalen Green-Scoring Title Cam Whitemore/Tari Eason-Sixth Man Sengun- Teammate of the Year
From your list, Brooks making the All-D is obviously the most likely. He literally did it last season.
past performance is not an indication of future results Bro loggin on in September to needlessly hate on the Rockets. You're going to be a beast when the season starts with this offseason work!
ROTY: Cam Whitmore Reminds me of a wing-version of Amar’e: very young but physically developed and with the ability/motor to violently rape defenders. Amar’e won ROTY in 2002/3… that year, too, all eyes were on a foreign 7-5 Center with extraordinary size and skill picked at #1
Haha stop being a dam homer. Worst team in the league for 3 years, they will be much better but not to a point where they all become all stars or get individual awards yet. Media runs these awards and votes. You would need someone averaging 30 points for the nba to take notice and the team competing for a playoff spot on top of that.
Selected DB for All D because it wouldn't be a surprise. Would like to have gone other. Udoka COTY Takes the worst team 3 yrs running to the postseason. AND they get out of the 1st round.
Are you sure about that? The owners son competition is intense in the NBA. Kirk Lacob, the Buss kids, Alex Lasry, the DeVos, the Grousbecks in Boston, and of course big daddy Jim Dolan himself - just to name a few of the NBA hereditary dabblers- all living monuments to the value of meritocracy and hard work.
Every one of those guys has an outside shot to get some kind of award. I'm not saying it's a guarantee for any of them, in fact the question basically suggests it's unlikely but "who has the best chance of it?" Stop being so contrarian. We don't need some edgelord boobythegreat wannabe in September, it's just for fun man. Lighten up.
That is a tough competition, and as we all know, Sons Of Billionaires (SOBs) are the best of us. So I want to make it clear that I am not trying to diminish any of their accomplishments. But were any of those other SOBs ever labeled "Houston's most eligible bachelors"? That's what puts Patrick in his own league.
I’ll give KPJ a chance for 6th man, I think he plays more minutes than most people would think. Astros are stressing us out... No time for perfect attendance everyone gets an award poll.
He won’t get it on a team winning low 30s of games this season and who projects to still be a middling defensive team at best. Brooks is still a great wing defender but the context of how the guys around you help make you look even more locked down won’t be here in Houston just yet unless SEVERAL guys make a leap. I think guys like Jabari and Eason will make more of an impact there but I’m not so convinced we will see defensive leaps from guys like Sengun or Green.
Yeah guy that's not even remotely what I'm talking about. "Violently rape defenders" is, at best, a terrible way to describe basketball and at worst kinda sounds like you are advocating for sexual assault.
