    You say you are in the legal proffession but you call Kate a victim without due process. What part do you really play in the legal proffession? File clerk?

    Btw, it should read alleged victim or something along that line. No real legal mind will make that slip up unless with intent.

    here are the reasons i learned in law school:

    1. they're unreliable;
    2. people are able to "beat" them;
    3. (most important) they replace the judge or jury as fact finder.

    honestly, cross-examination is a much better tool than lie-detector machines. the legal community's opinion of lie-detector machines sets them up to appear to be junk science.

    Very true, but to clarify . . . it's not so much about reliability, even there is an issue as to that.

    lie detector tests are generally not admissible (unless somehow stipulated) because the probative value is outweighed by the undue weight that the jury would give to that evidence. in that way, your point 3 is invoked, the jury would just adopt the lie detector's finding.

    Good letter, and it sounds like he is protecting his daughter, can't fault him for that.

    Why wouldn't alot of people think he was guilty? Why is he more credible than his accusor? Just because he's Kobe? And even if he is more credible, does that mean he isn't guilty?

    Why would she lie about it? To get her name smeared publicly? To get that payday someone mentioned? Well if that's all it was, why did she have to bring criminal charges? It looks like she could pull out of the criminal case and still go for a civil suit so she didn't need the aggrivation of a criminal case to begin with.

    Why would Kobe lie? To stay out of jail perhaps? To hide the fact that he was cheating on his wife perhaps?

    *** I'm not saying that I think he's guilty, that's not for me to determine, I'm just pointing out why alot of people might think Kobe is even guilty.
