During a lunch discussion today, some friends told me that it's possible for me to sell my blood plasma for $50 or more. I Googled this and found lots of places to donate, but couldn't find out any info on how much they pay. So, I have questions: How much can I sell my blood for? What places will buy? Which places pay more? Do the hospitals in the med center (i.e. St. Lukes') pay? How can I make the most money for my blood? -- droxford
I could be wrong, but I believe that it is now against the law to sell your own blood in the US. I know that all medical centers take only donated blood. This is to actually protect the blood supply. There were apparently a lot of homeless, IV drug users and other questionable donors, who might have contaminated blood, donating when it was for money.
This contradicts what I have recently heard. And people are screened before they donate blood to make sure that it's not contaminated in any way. -- droxford
To the end user, yes, but when you sell plasma you have to give blood.... semantics are grand aren't they
you can sell blood for free 99 i always remeber that homeless guy on nightcourt that would sell his blood for the shady lawyers personal gain. That was funny . .. . .
No, they pump the blood back into you after they extract the plasma. The whole process takes a while, so you should bring a book if you want to do it.
There's a place on Shaver that gives you $25 for plasma donations, and they let you give twice a week. Pick up one of those employment guides, there are locations all over Houston.
The point I'm making is that you are selling your plasma, so it's not illegal and as was mentioned before, the blood gets pumped back in.
