So apparently this is actually a thing but it sounds so ridiculous.

The Indian government is apparently going to change the name of India to Bahrat.
I think they should change it to Native America to just make it even more confusing. And will Pakistan become India?

‘Bharat’ or ‘India’? The Controversy Over Some Hindu Nationalists' Push to Rename India

The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has referred to India as “Bharat” in invites for a dinner party at the upcoming G-20 Summit in New Delhi, a move that has sparked controversy. The word is the Hindi name for India, and critics say its use is the latest sign of a nationalist push amid a banner year for the country.

India is now the world’s most populous nation and is the fastest growing major economy. Beyond hosting the annual G-20 Summit this year, which runs from Sept. 9 to 10, the country also recently completed a historic moon landing.

The invites referred to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, as “President of Bharat.” News of the invites comes two days after Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, an ideological mentor of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, said in a speech that the country should use the word Bharat instead of India.

    Other impending name changes:
    Bharat Ocean
    West Bharats
    East Bharats
    Bharatnesia
    French Bharat-China
    Bharatanapolis, Bharatana
    Cleveland Bharatins
    The Bharatan in the Cupboard

You, all right!, I learned it by watching you, Thailand.

Corporate rebranding your failing company to something with a new vague name is the most modern thing ever. Twitter to X. Facebook to Meta. Google to Alphabet. Phillip Morris to Altira. It seems to be the corporate solution to dealing with an image problem. Hopefully Bharat brings a new logo, with it, too, to really complete the transformation.

For better or worse, I can only hear a Texan saying the name of a local grocery store, Bi Rite.

For real though, Borat should sue for copyright infringement.

    I don't even know what you're saying.

Korea should go back to Corea. Or even Goryeo.

Then the DPRK could rebrand as Spectreland.

    I'll see myself out:

India was a British name given to the region - before the British the word "India" didn't exist; Bharat is more accurate but seems odd to bother with the change. Problem with Bharat it really refers to all south asian, not just India.

I don't think this will stick. In Hindi (Devanagari script), it is already "Bharat" but in english it's "India". Why bother changing the English name when India is literally the English name?
