This is the first time I have seen @cmoak1982 having what I think is a legitimate conversation, w/o resorting to name calling, cursing people out and putting on a facade. Its OK to agree to disagree.

Mind you, I've never seen CJ's 40 time offically but he could be in the 4.6 - 4.8 range but as @cmoak1982 said, he does not have the wiggle, although I think most call it "twitch", like a Michael Vick or even a Deshaun Watson.

To me, a Quarterback NEEDS to be; cereberal, accurate, AND athletic. Athletic in the sense, to be able to run when all else fails, to not sit and take sacks, to be able to run RPOs, i.e, Dak Prescott. That's all I want.

Twitchyness is a plus, its not needed but if they have it, great! I thinknit makes that player more dynamic but to be a great QB, you do not needed it.

I typically only call you names.

Stroud isn’t a 4.6 guy, that’s pretty clear on tape. He can pick up the yards that are there.
RPO’s might be a bit of a mixed bag, his legs won’t scare anyone enough to make them really dangerous.
Avoiding sacks/pressure and throwing on the run is where he’s going to need to show that he has the ability consistently.

Twitchiness on a QB, is literally the least important trait a QB needs to be successful in the NFL.

Signed Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Shoot, Aaron Rodgers for most his career, and Patrick Mahomes.

Yall really need to stfu. lol.

Rodgers and Mahomes are two of the most mobile QBs to ever play the game.
It is you that needs to stfu.

And here’s another one comparing Stroud to Brady and Peyton

Agree. However QBs are different, in today's NFL the more athletic the better. Its harder to stop a QB who has a strong arm, accurate and athletic, it opens up the offense.

I have to agree with @houstonstime's earlier post about you moving the goal post on your clarification of athlecticism, especially on this comment.

You mention Rodgers as athletic but then you say CJ is not?

To me, I think they are equal in athletic ability.
Both can run but neither has twitch. Just during the Georgia game and during the pre-season, Ive seen him make similar plays as to what Rodgers displayed in the video.

True but I think believing he can become a top 5 QB like Rodgers is a stretch.

QB's that have enough athletic ability to avoid the rush and operate well within the pocket are the QB's that win championships.

I'm not saying CJ is Rodgers, Rodgers is Top 5. CJ is a rookie, we'll see what he can do!

Now, maybe. Prime Rodgers was Mahomes that ran a 4.6/4.7.
Only a fool would say Rodgers wasn’t mobile, he was the one that started the new wave.

That video is literal proof lol, Stroud does not have the ability prime Rodgers had. The elusiveness and burst is far more than what Stroud is capable of.
You can’t find 5 plays in all of Strouds tape outside of Georgia that shows him do what that video shows Rodgers doing

I think it depends on what type of glasses you are viewing these QBs through. I've seen these QBs my whole life and Rodgers never had this BURST you seem to speak of nor does Burrow.

They're ok as far as speed is concern for their position, 4.6 - 4.8 range but burst, no way. And by the way Rodgers was clocked at 4 71 in the 40, which is about t right when you see him on film

To me, burst equates to EXTRA/ADDITIONAL speed, so when you speak of burst, Im thinking Michael Vick or Lamar Jackson.

To me on that film, he appears to be about in that 4.6 - 4.7 range. Good speed but not great.

I think what I see most from Stroud is that he wasnt asked to do much scrambling or running in college, so it became foreign to him. Its not that he can't, he just wasn't ask to do it.

If you had the type of weapons they had at OSU and as accurate as CJ is, why run when you can just throw?

Also if you look at most of his runs, he looks hesitant, because it was foriegn to him. Same can be said of Pat Mahommes. If you notice, early on, he didnt run or scramble a lot because he was still learning. He would run to avoid a sack but to run 5, 10, 15 yrds was not in his arsenal.

    Thanks david_rocket

Burst is short area quickness and agility.
Rodgers has that in spades. Stroud does not.

Stroud is hesitant when he runs because he can’t make people miss.

Mahomes and Rodgers are not hesitant, they’re always looking for the play. They can extend plays because of their athleticism

That is literally a straight line run where he doesn’t evade anyone lol.
He can do that, but he was still easily ran down.

That is not elusive, explosive, agile. Every QB in the league can make that play.

Stroud has about the same straight line speed as Rodgers, but as of right now lacks the twitch/elusiveness that allows someone of that speed to maximize yardage gained or elude defenders. I personally believe he has the athletic ability to grow in that area, but I doubt he'll ever be like Rodgers, Mahomes, or even Bryce Young in that area because its not really his play style.

Agree with that completely. But when we compare athleticisms or accuracy, it’s us somehow stating Stroud will be as good.

yet when @cmoak1982 says Levis is similar in athleticism to Allen or more than stafford, then it’s suddenly only a comparison on athleticism and not a statement that Levis will be as good as Allen.

Does that make sense? I’m just struggling with how one comparison means you think the player will be an all time great, and the other comparison is strictly about one facet and we can’t argue that it isn’t true.

Edit: or that saying stroud is similar in accuracy to burrow somehow jumps to “well they aren’t the same athletically”..
