Steve Kerr learned 2 things: * Big men are important * It's rough without Draymond nut kicking, eye scratching, throat punching, bear hugging, undercutting, and moving screening. The refs made the coach.
Lol not at all surprised. Still haven't learned the lesson you can't send your B team and expect to win these things...and bra this wasn't even the B team. This was the C team. Let's be real here, Edwards is about the only guy that would make Team USA and he'd be coming off the bench this go around.
Throughout the tournament the ball movement for USA looked significantly worse than other teams. Passing and vision are dying arts in the ISO ball, drive and hope for fouls era of North American basketball.
Serbia did not send Jokic, Greece did not send Giannis, France no Coulibaly, Wembanyama..... Several nations just send their advanced B-teams.
Yeah this. And also, Lithuania was missing their best player in Domantas Sabonis. They were also missing their best perimeter guard in Grigonis, their best perimeter defenders in Butkevicius/Ulanovas, their best backup PG in Lekavicius, and their best shooter in Giedraitis. All of these guys are Euroleague players. Instead, they had a lot of new guys take their place, but they definitely delivered. In Lithuania, nobody had any expectations for this team... But I guess now will be the time to reconsider the perception of some of these players. Here it definitely feels like a Cinderella story of sorts.
Not going to jinx it but kinda like the Spanish Women soccer team where 12 players were boycotting the coach and still won the World Cup. And their final opponent England was also missing couple key players.
Yeah there is no defensive 3 seconds, and you can knock the ball off the rim as well, no cylinder rule. Teams with size and length get a significant buff defensively, whereas in the NBA with a slightly wider court and those rules I mentioned the big men are suffering.
If JJJ is in foul trouble and not on the court, is Bobby Portis or the young rooks: Kessler / Banchero not able to hang with the Lithuanian Lightning: Valančiūnas? There were b-team type of bigs they could have sent: J. Allen, Turner, Mobley, or even Looney (if they want options with bulk). Guys with more experience but not ancient. Also one bad game, or is Reeves getting exposed.
Well, I thought people said the NBA was the best league in the world. Every single player on Team USA is NBA player. The other teams would dream of fielding half the team with B/C-level NBA players.
to be fair, the internet ignored this too. Only when he does terrible do people want to mention it, lol
I'm still not a fan of Dillon's contract, but what's done is done. I genuinely hope he becomes good for us. Him playing well for Canada is a good sign. This Summer off-season lot of other teams local media still insult the Rockets of how bad we are, as if off-season moves didn't happen. I hope Rockets do well this season so those people will eat their words.
Rockets have to enter the playoff second round for the media to have an inkling of consideration to view the Rockets as not that bad, but they would still think we are bad until we win the championship
The Secrecy or non transparency which drove me mad during the Stone era (at least Morey was upfront about a slew of things) has not abruptly ended with the arrival of Ime Udoka. Most of us only got the memo of veterans arriving - PG- Wing- Center or Big The more curious of us fans would have appreciated more detailed information on this. But those guys are off to the World Cup, to their own training facilities, etc........... This modern day experience is weak at best to wait till media day to know a lot more about the new signings. Talking about eating words, this franchise is really about to eat their secret shet.
