Why doesn't Morey get the same criticism Stone did?

Really? Every playoff team that doesn't win the championship could be considered a "flame-out" by that ridiculous logic. He was the 2nd most successful GM for 13 years and consistently put a competitive team on the court *every single year. Not many can say that. Your measures are totally subjective and have no basis in fact.

At the end of the day putting a competitive team on the court is your job as a GM. He did it without the misery of tanking, even when the tanking rules were much more favorable. DM should be applauded for that.

Morey doesn't get sht on as much bc most folks have watch sports enough to know that thinking success is simply by winning it all or bust is a stupid mindset that will only lead to disappointment.

Would it b nice for us to win it all yea, is it disappointing falter in playoffs ya.
Morey has never tank and was still always able to build a competitive team that was fun to watch. Man could have done better but he has done his job better than most gm

Stone has brought hope with this rebuild but we have yet to see any success much less a definitive franchise player

The mess made the team extremely asset rich, it gave Stone a lot of opportunities to wheel and deal, Morey was mostly running a consistently competitive team, but was able to seemingly create opportunities out of thin air via free agency signings under team friendly contracts, and a lot of trades where we seemed to come out ahead. Stone's situation may seem like a mess, but in reality it has given him a massive amount of opportunity to be an active GM which is what we are judging him on, he has not really been an active GM though given the amount of opportunity he has had. When you are given the opportunity to trade away every piece of a competitive veteran team including a generational talent in Harden, and are given the opportunity to completely tank three consecutive seasons, your performance may not be easily evaluated by people because you are given so much to work with and so many assets. Morey was handed an EBT card and told to go make the best of it at Target, while Stone was given a black Amex.

When you are so asset rich, you can miss how Stone has made incremental mistakes. You get 3 top 4 picks in consecutive years, so things look ok on the surface, but look at how many trades and FA signings we are all on here trying to justify. With Morey we knew we won trades and FA signings immediately and we were not really having these disucssions.

-As of now, we don't know if we got enough for Harden at the time, Nets look like they will be an average team for the foreseeable future. We are having to sit here and justify the trade, nothing is clear.
-We do not know if JG was the right pick at that spot yet
-We do not know if we should have made a trade w Orlando or someone else w Jabari
-We tried to extend Oladipo (would have been a mistake, we got lucky) and he declined, pretty much got nothing in return for him
-We are sitting here justifying the amount paid to FVV and DB, its not something that is clearly a home run they look like overpays at the moment, but again ppl are having to justify it.
-Dumped KJ Martin, and 3 late first for nothing (JC, Garuba, TyTy), should have consolidated these or traded them if you cant find value in any of these guys vs. taking the picks and then dumping them.
-Sengun we used two picks for, as of now as Rockets fans we like him and what we gave up, but his current value is about what we paid, so nothing that stands out.
-Looking at the guys we picked and then the re-drafts all of our top guys are lower than we drafted them in a re draft the following summer.

There is nothing that Stone has done in the top end of the draft that a fan on clutchfans didn't think of. He has not made a single move where the fans feel like we definitely won a trade and he can be celebrated for it. When Gobert and Mitchell were traded from Utah, we knew they won those trades almost immediately, and almost everyone on here will agree that utah won the Gobert trade. We all knew what we got with Harden in 2012, we knew we won the TMac trade as well, every deal Stone has made has a ton of discussion on here, because none have been home runs and he has had endless opportunities. It has been 3 years, and I do not even know who is on the front page banner of clutchfans, is it still James Harden? That should be telling of what we have accomplished, which is still unknown. At this point, I feel like there should have been a move or two that we are all very pleased about and there is no discussion because it was easily the right move, but there is not one single move we can point to where the large majority of fans can say Stone outsmarted anyone.

    Not difficult to answer.

Silas is still on the front page.

They got rid of those banners.

The fact there is no one on the banner just means it has been 3 years and we do not have anyone worthy of being on the banner, a lot of unknowns, and therefore Stone does not deserve any credit yet. We do not know if any one of our top picks is worth a max extension yet.

Morey was charged with reloading on the run...no rebuild...turn us into a Championship team. By the way...you'll have to deal wth one of the greatest teams of all time every year, An almost impossble task. And, he did it.

Whereas, Stone has a blank canvas...time and margin of error.

That said, we ARE postiioned nicely, with talent, coaching, and future assets. Ime will instill a culture, and we'll win.

Blank canvas? I guarantee if he traded Harden for Ben Simmons that canvas wouldn't be blank. John Wall's contract was a BLESSING. Most of the idiots were too stupid to realize that was a chess move that set us up with cap space. Stone's made some real business savvy moves
