Shameless! Absolutely shameless, I'm tellin' ya! In case you didn't read the "Houston Musician" thread, the alt-country-rock-Texas-singer/songwriter band (how's that for a musical genre) I play lead guitar in, Carl Hayn and the Holdouts, will be doing an in-store show tomorrow (Saturday 8/14) at Cactus Records and Tapes, South Shepherd at West Alabama, from 1-3 PM. St. Arnold's will be providing the cold liquid bread. We will be playing tunes from our latest CD "Enjoy the Ride" plus some other choice chunky muggly-nugglies. CDs and I believe T-shirts will be available. C'mon out, have a few, listen to the tunes and say howdy!!!!
I play slide guitar a bit, and I know of a couple of pedal steel players around town (if that's the kind of slide you are looking for). Lemme know......
Yeah, ditto on the steel guy. I know probably the best steel guy in town, for both country and rock. Tex probably knows him too.
Man, in-store Cactus performances always kick @$$ - what with the free St. Arnolds beer & all. Unfortunately, I'll be out of town, BUT, throw down an Amber for me!
Sorry, man. No go for me. I'm going to Memphis in a couple of hours to see my son, and won't be back until late Sunday. Another time, tho.
Could you guys set up a webcam and audio feed so I can knock back a few and watch you guys from up here in Pa.?
For a while I thought I would be unable to make it owing to a strange foot injury, but now I can hobble about and tomorrow I hope to be ambulatory again.
BobFinn: What is "Pa.?" If it's Pennsylvania, I'm here too. If it's Pittsburgh, we should get a beer. And talk about how we're sorry we're missing RMT.
RMTex, it's not looking good. We got a tee time at 10:45 this morning...we completely forgot about the weather and how hard it'd make getting an earlier tee time. Have a good show and drink the beer that we would've!
Hey, I made it out and caught about 3/4 of their set. Cool band. I have a real soft spot in my heart for roots rock and this was good stuff. Tex is a very cool guitar player and the band was super solid. Carl Hayn has a really good voice and I thoroughly enjoyed the music. I had fun.
