I recommend watching the Screencrush or New Rockstars recap videos on YouTube for a crash course in Ahsoka, Thrawn, and Sabine’s histories as well as Clone Wars and Rebels recaps. another good one that I like is the Children of the Watch podcast
Apparently they ****ed up the encode with incorrect color space tags so the show looks washed out. https://x.com/mrbrecken/status/1694838436195082442?s=61&t=FKqRztUxOJwL9tz2SKfrzQ
One thing I forgot to mention that really bothered me was that Ashoka stole the Sabine rebel bike ride directly from their main rival Star Trek. Not only that though... the scene just highlights the difference in storytelling ability. In Star Trek they not only used the scene to develop the rebellious brand for Kirk, but it led directly to the quarry where they were beginning to build the Enterprise, so the scene actually had a purpose... in addition to character development. Had to say that cause it stood out to me.
Watched episode 1, was pretty meh and woke... Pretty much a bunch of girl bosses setting up to fight each other, there is the main character Ahsoka who is already a girl boss... I knew that coming in thou and was ok with it, then there is the purple red hair girl boss and the green girl boss and the older azn witch girl boss.... Not to mention the bad guy's apprentice who is also a girl boss lol..... The only dudes are the bad guy former jedi and the lost(presumed dead) dude the girl bosses are just so happen going to find along the way because I doubt they have any originality and its pretty predictable. Iono, maybe Ill try episode 2... Maybe episode 1 was the checkmark episode, it was missing a gay couple thou so maybe they will include that for sure in a future episode so they aren't done check marking....
Interesting...the bike ride stuff actually happened in Rebels too...the animated version, obviously. I blame James Dean for it.
I’m not to keen on some of the acting so far. Not sure I dig some of the borrowed stuff out of the first trilogy. Such as the blind training and the line “I got one” after shooting and enemy ship. Is it supposed to feel nostalgic? I will continue watching but I’m not blown away yet.
There's a weird stiffness in the performances during the first three episodes which is weird because Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are solid actresses. Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno who plays his underling are a lot more interesting, for me at least, so far. During the last episode my wife mentioned that the purple hair girl looks like Ezra Miller with make up on and I can't unsee now....
Exactly my thoughts. The witch lady (who is not Cheri Oteri) is terrible. And screw you for bring up the Ezra Miller thing...this is now going to annoy me for the rest of the series
She looks more cosplay than an intergalactic character, I like Mary Winstead but she should not be in this, except playing a human.
