what will the starting lineup look like, and who do yal think will be the biggest contributors off the bench.
If the season started today. Mo T would likely be our biggest contributor off the bench and I'll go for wishful thinking rather than reason and say that Reece Gaines will be our 2nd most productive bench player. Starters: PG: Triple Double SG: Tracy SF: Jim PF: Juwon C: Ming
2005 Houston Rockets Starting Lineup PG - TLue/ CWard / Gaines SG - TMac / Sura / Gaines SF - JJackson / Boki PF - JHoward / MoT / Padgett C - YMing / Deke first guy off the bench will be Deke / MoT / Boki / Sura im taking Lue out of the rotation because he is only on for one more year. I would rather use that time to develop Gaines than use Lue since he will be a FA next year anyways. I think Spoon or Padgett will be moved before the start of the season .. J
Per position/minutes played: PG-Ward/Lue/Sura/Gaines SG-T-Mac/Sura/Gaines SF-JJ/Boki/TMac/Sura PF-Juwon/MoT/Spoon C-Yao/Mutombo/MoT
Yao(35)/Mutombo(13) Howard(28)/Taylor(20) JJ(30)/Boki(18) Mcgrady(38)/Sura(10) Lue(24)/Sura(16)/Ward(8)
Sura is gonna start at PG, we wouldn't give him more money than ward and lue to sit on the bench. PG Sura SG Tmac SF JJ PF Howard C Yao
He'll play more minutes than Ward or Lue, I'm almost certain of that. But he just seems like a perfect bench player. I'm thinking Lue will start and help get Yao off to a good start by spreading the defense and getting Yao the ball every time. Then once Yao goes to the bench, Sura comes in to lead the 2nd unit and pick up the pace of the game.
Darn, this team was so weak on the bench just a week ago. But with Sura, Ward, Mutumbo. Bang. Suddenly Rockets are very deep...
Yao Ming(34), Mutombo(14), Spoon Howard (30), Taylor(18), Padgett Jackson (34), Nachbar McGrady(38), Sura(24), Gaines C. Ward(30), Lue(18), Wilk Sura avg. 24min. at SG position, McGrady play 24min. as SG and 14min. as SF.
Starting five: PG - Ward SG - McGrady SF - Jackson PF - Howard C - Yao First off the bench Mo T, with Howard sliding to the 5 spot often, depending on matchups 2nd unit - Sura (PG/SG), Mutombo, Boki...Lue, I don't think will see a lot of time...depending on matchups We know that Van Gundy seldom goes more than 8 deep on the bench. I think we will rarely see both Yao and McGrady sitting at the same time. One or the other will always be on the court.
CD seems to really like Lue from his interviews and if the Rockets didn't like Lue they wouldn't have convinced him to not use that opt-out in his contract. I don't think Lue would do that unless he was assured some playing time.
What do we do with Adrian Griffin??? Will he be in the Mutumbo trade? Chicago already has like 16 players under contract as it is.
This looks about right, only I see Boki getting a little less, maybe 12-15 and JJ and Sura getting the difference. j
I think T-Mac will get some minutes at the 3 as well as around 28-30 at the 2 and Sura will back him up at the 2. I agree that Boki will probably get around 12-15 minutes.Spoon will get around 5 minutes a game when Mo-T or Howard get in foul trouble. Howard will probably start at the 4 spot. Lue should play for half of the game but I think Ward might get around 10-12 minutes at the 1. Sura will get the rest of the time as a PG. 35 minutes for Yao and 13 for Mutombo is a good prediction. Griffin and Gaines will be on the bench most of the time.
PG - ward (18), lue (18), slim shady (12) SG - tmac (35), slim (13) SF - jj (28), boki (20) PF - howard (30), taylor (18) C - yao (33), deke (15) i was originally sold that sura was more of a 2 than a 1, after reading some BBS yall have convinced me that he can and should be playin PG, especially after reading that he himself said he has been playing it alot and feels comfortable at it...
