This is different. The team is opening up a can of quit, not focused, etc. This is nowhere near Astros baseball of this era.
Dana is not going to rock the boat in his first year..especially when it's becoming clearer and clearer this will be Dusty's retirement season (hopefully). He saw what happened when Click rocked the boat...Dusty went behind his back to Crane like the teacher's pet and tattled on him to get his way.
That's what happens when you let the previous GM go despite winning a World Series for pushing back on Dusty, Reggie, and Bags... ...but in all seriousness, it seems Dusty is way too willing to concede games when down 3+ runs early...
The team may have realized their efforts are wasted as long as Dusty remains as manager. A few more games like this will be a sure sign that is the case.
uhh... because the starting pitching has had the propensity to be dogshit far more frequently than any time in the last 2 WS years. Bad starting pitching leads to bullpen overuse.
I'm not denying the pitching has declined this year but is that THE main reason for lack of focus in the field with careless errors and much worse defense that also contributes to bigger innings? The team has looked too complacent this year with lack of the same focus and edge. Even Maldy implied this after the players only meeting. Many feel this is due to Dusty's leadership style and lack of urgency.

“He’s my field general,” manager Dusty Baker told Yahoo Sports. “Yainer right now is at West Point learning war strategy, whereas Maldy’s already been at war.” https://sports.yahoo.com/hes-a-god-...-the-worst-catcher-in-baseball-211105661.html GFY Dusty
