A PSI or PSR details the defendant's background and criminal conduct and is based, in part, on an interview with a defendant. Because the PSI can help courts find the most appropriate sentence and mitigate the severity of a sentence, it is an extremely important document in the criminal justice system.Feb 13, 2017

I guess this is because probation is a possibility. If not, they could just lock him to start serving a minimum sentence.

This. State GOP wants to consolidate power and is trying to undermine Harris County in order to flip it red.

I believe the indicted criminals are being allowed to self report their height and weight. For example, rudy reported he was 5'11". I am a little over 5'8" and he was about the same height as I am when I met him years ago in Orlando.

That's stupid. Do all criminals get to self report height and weight, or just politicians and their criminal associates? I can imagine Trump will really lie about his weight.

Here's the part further down that tweet thread you didn't include. Somehow, I don't think this was just another typical PSI as he's trying to pretend it was.

Whenever these type of narratives form I ask the people who buy in "what's the motive". Does the DA and judge want murderers to be free to wak among us? Is there some plot? What exactly do you think the intent is.

He is yet to be sentenced, so he's out on bond. He's not a one-off; this is a standard practice. Access to bond is a civil right guaranteed in the Constitution. I get it that you don't like it, but maybe bring it up when it's a rich white murderer out on bond.

He's guilty of murder. I think it's weird that we still allow freedom for dangerous individuals while they await sentencing. The details are confusing for the timeline of when he plead guilty. I'm okay with him being out on bond between his initial arrest to the guilty plead as he's only suspected of committing a crime, but I'd prefer murderers to be locked up once they are convicted. I guess we have to hope he doesn't commit any more crimes in this next week.

It's a valid debate whether we should allow bond between conviction and sentencing. But some quick googling shows that courts in many states will often allow it. I don't think it's interesting that this guy is a murderer. Maybe in practice, murderers usually get their bonds denied, I don't know. But, if we have a principled objection to bond after conviction, it's an issue for all crimes, not just violent ones. If it's just this guy or this crime, there is a whole byzantine jurisprudence to navigate before we can say it's inappropriate practice for the judge. I'll leave that to the courts.
