I will be happy with either one.

The only thing I'm afraid of Motombo is like an old and used car. Don't like to seeing him breakdown during the season.

I'd like Clark just because our front line isn't very athletic. Clark and Taylor off the bench would change the tempo of the game.

It has to be Keon. He can score and defend. Deke can only defend. My vote is on keon

I don't think the Rockets need a Center, they can sign someone like Keon Clark and play him with Yao and block the hell out of people inside. Then sub Yao out to give him a breather and insert HOward or Taylor and move Clark to Center position.

Mutombo is half dead and has no offensive value. I'd prefer Clark, though I don't think too much of either.

Heigth is important, but it's scarcity has caused it to be somewhat overrated.

Id have to say Keon clark is a better shot blocker than Mutumbo at this stage of their careers, and he can shoot the 15 footer.

Clark's shot is suspect. He is a good shot blocker and dunker. His rebounding is fair but the only time he did well was his last year with the Raptors before his injury.Deke is old but he puts in a good effort most of the time and can give us a physical presence which we lack. Howard and Mo-T can slide to the 5 in emergency situations.

lol - the poll is at EXACTLY 50/50 right now (11:27 friday). That's crazy.

I probably would pick Clark for the shear fact that he's younger. Mutumbo is one of the few players in the NBA just as injury-prone as Clark. Clark is a better offensive player too, and can block shots almost as well. So, whoever is cheaper.

I think since both of them r prone to injuries, I'd rather go w/ the young one

We need some athleticism in our back-up center ~ it would be a nice change of pace from Yao to Keon. With Deke you’re getting the same style as Yao not a bad thing of course, but we could use some up-tempo play at center.

Honestly though I would be happy with either player as back-up.

I'd like to have both so that we would be able to handle any kind of frontcourt. I don't really like either at this point though...

Clark gets manhandled too easily. The only thing he brings is nice dunks and blocks. Lots of flash, little substance. I never understood why people here have a mancrush on him.

depends on how much money keon clark wants.

potential? i think he peaked several seasons ago. if he can play like he did on the raptors again... that would already be a dream.

How about a compromise candidate -- Rueben Boumtje-Boumtje. B-B (or Boom-Boom) is 7-0, 255 lbs and a shot blocker much like Clark but more the size of Mutombo. He has a decent (not great) shot and loads of "athleticism." And he would be inexpensive.

Boom-Boom can only defend and run the floor. We need a center who can be productive for at least 15-18 minutes. He can get garbage time nothing else. Deke is far better than him even though he is much older.
