Woman Who Mailed Ricin to Trump Is Sentenced to 21 Years in Prison
Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier, 55, of Quebec admitted to mailing letters containing the lethal substance to Mr. Trump and eight Texas law enforcement officials in 2020.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/17/us/ricin-letter-trump-2020-sentencing.html

    excerpt:

At her plea hearing, Ms. Ferrier admitted that she made ricin at her home in Quebec in September 2020 and mailed it in letters to Mr. Trump at the White House and to eight law enforcement officials in Texas. The letters, which referred to the poison as a “special gift,” were intercepted before they reached their destinations, according to court documents.

In a statement that she read in court on Thursday, Ms. Ferrier said that she had “remorse for the psychological harm I did to my children, but not for my activist actions.”

“The only regret I have,” she added, “is that it didn’t work, and I couldn’t stop Trump before he put in action his plans to try to stay in power.”

“Hey, I listen to true crime. Maybe this b**** is responsible for the anthrax poisonings or the Tylenol murders. Give Nancy Glass and Judge Just 10 minutes with her and they will have this Canadian admitting to her crimes in no time.” - Tony Danza

Was wondering why TX law enforcement…

21 is too much unless she intended to cause harm. She is not right or expected much less. Crossed over knowing the FBI was looking for her…

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/do...ed-letter-trump-sentenced-21-years-rcna100458

The Texas letters targeted law enforcement officials she apparently held responsible for a 2019 arrest there on a weapons charge. Ferrier had been busted for showing officers a fake ID while she had a loaded gun, and the charges were later dropped.

She was arrested again at the Peace Bridge Border Crossing in Buffalo, New York, in September 2020 after she told border officials she was wanted by the FBI for having sent the letters, court filings say. She was "in possession of a loaded firearm, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, two knives, a stun gun, pepper spray, a truncheon, and a false identification document," prosecutors said.

Ferrier told the judge before sentencing that
she is a grandmother of four and an "activist," not a terrorist.

"The ricin I made didn’t have a harmful concentration. It was just a strong warning. I did not target innocent people. It was never my attention to harm innocent people, and in fact I did not harm anyone," she said. She added that her "only regret" is that Trump did not heed her warning "and I couldn’t stop Trump before he put in action his plans to try to stay in power."

I’m not going to claim any expertise in this but my understanding is ricin is one of the deadliest poisons. I wouldn’t trust her claim that she was deliberately mixing it in less than deadly concentrations as it’s probably not easy to do that or cooking at home to do know that. That she sent this to multiple people and then was caught entering the country well armed I don’t think she was just some innocent activist.

But the CIA plot to assassinate Castro is the act of morally great people trying to rid the world of the evils of communism.

As Americans we have by far the least amount of self awareness only rivaled by North Korean citizens but they don't have a choice.

No, definitely not innocent. Actually, she apparently said she is not remorseful and would do it again, so to me that justify a heavy sentence even though no harm was done.
