The Knicks were basically the 7th best team in the league last year both record wise and net rating, and were eliminated in the final 8. Adding the current MVP to a top 8 team absolutely makes them a contender - how could it possibly not?
I’m talking about right now which the article is trying to say. They were a decent playoff team, not a contender.
Knickerbockers do not suck this time, but are mediocre or a tad above mediocrity. Which is what Brunson brought to the team.
The Knicks added Brunson without giving up anything. Morey will demand we sell him 3 farmhouses for Embid. Harden already taught Embid how to quit and put on fat suits.
No. As I posted on the other thread that a Rookie somehow started and Clutch immediately responded to: Sengun is an appreciating asset. Embiid is a depreciating asset. Right now, Embiid is still better. But he is a) a huge injury risk, b) a proven underachiever in the playoffs, c) a big flight risk - if things don't work out in the first year, chances with these kinds of guys at that stage of their career are that they "demand out" - then you have just given away your future for a one-year rental and a franchise in turmoil. You might still consider it if you feel like it gives you a 50/50 chance at a championship next year. I don't see that - especially considering the fact that Embiid never got the 76ers anywhere, even with a second star and a decent supporting cast.
I don't get how you can call them mediocre either relative to the league or overall. A .500 Heat team made the finals due to 3 point variance swinging their way at the right time. The Nuggets barely won over 50 games but were unchallenged for the 1 seed. - I remember when a 53 win season used to mean you could possibly be scrapping for a playoff spot. That's just the NBA now in the age of parity. I mean, you can argue that everybody is mediocre talking head style, but I don't think that's what's really going on.
Without Brunson they are pretty mediocre to me. That is what the previous poster had in mind but said they sucked. Also keep in mind being mediocre is pretty flattering for a franchise that was around 28-30 wins for a much longer period. The Knicks were Leslie Alexander style Rockets minus 10 wins while being in the East. A Basketball as its logo. BTW
Much respect for sticking to your guns!! Saying no to Joel and Victor is not an easy decision for me, especially if it's Alpi/Tate/and picks... definitely a hard pass on Zion though, he's shown he's a walking injury waiting to happen! Understand, I'm not proposing to trade ALPI, but if it happens, players like Joel/Victor are not going to be cheap OR readily available very often. Reigning MVP or (the ALLEGED by the media) future GOAT is actually selling Apli at a high in this particular juncture of his pro career. (P.S.) I don't think Victor will ever be the GOAT! (P.S. pt2) IMHO it's going to take a bell of a lot more than ALPI/TATE/PICKS for Joel. PASS!!! Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
Of course it’s not gonna happen, none of the crazy hypothetical’s would. Still surprised you would do it though
From Favorite Radiohead song “so don’t get any…big ideas…neverrrrr gonna happen” or it could be “they’re not gonna happen.”
