Hes got a good range for a forward. One thing hes going to have problems first year is when they double him hes going to have to pass the ball out very quick. Nba players are quick and will take more advantage on him cause he is young. One other thing is that when he gets the ball inside, he needs to get better position, a little more inside so if he fades away he doesnt do it from 3 point line. But other than that he is a great players. I expect him to have those mistakes cause he is young and its a change for him. Its going to take time but rockets got some kind of player. Griffin I also think wasnt contesting stuff he could, guess he understands that if he does touch its a foul. ------------------ "The girls danced, started fondling me, I got aroused, they performed oral sex," Ewing said. Go back and read my post carefully. I don't mention KT at all. I was responding to the idea to trade KT, as suggested by BahDakota and Kubli, and let Griffin back up Mo. I think this is a bad idea. Thanks anyway Jim...errr...clone. For the record, I think Griffin will be a great PF, when he developes. Give him 3 years. ------------------ T-Pooh and BahDakota went up the hill, to make a bet on a Forward. When it all came down, they were nowhere to be found. Now they should be drawn and quartered. Mo has had 4 years to develop his reputation, why not give the 19 year old some time to develop his body before we start calling him soft. ------------------ "I'm attempting to dream in a world where not many people dream any more." - "Rocket man" Brian Walker
Tired of this topic. I see Mo and KT getting most of the PF time. I wish the season would start. ------------------ T-Pooh and BahDakota went up the hill, to make a bet on a Forward. Malone wasn't 19 when he came into the NBA and Kemp did not start in his first season in the NBA. Those are facts. ------------------ "I'm attempting to dream in a world where not many people dream any more." - "Rocket man" Brian Walker
Griff has great range for a forward but he needs a lot of work to become a dominant 4. I did not see him drive toward the basket on post ups, he usually just turned and fired or faded away. He needs to develop some strong moves toward the basket. His defense looked pretty good, he did have some lapses though. Loads of talent but still needs time to develop. ------------------
I was trying to compare Griffin to other young PF. Kemp was a manchild and had the body to play in the NBA. At age 20, he averaged 15-8. If Malone was born in 55 and played his first pro season in 74, how old was he? ------------------ T-Pooh and BahDakota went up the hill, to make a bet on a Forward. i just don't like the idea of eddie chasing around marion, peja, lewis, dirk, and the other s 3's in the league.he's 6'10 and some change and 220 lbs.yes he'll have problems this year but hopefully he'll fill his body out to 240-245 area and then you have a natural shot blocker rebounder at the 4.i dont think he's quick enough to hold the odoms, mcgrady, robinson, mashburn, carters of the world consistenly.keep this in mind, tim duncan.2 years from now that my center if we don't overspend the money on anderson, bullard and taylor. ------------------ everett
Kemp as a 19 year old manchild averaged 6 points and 4 rebounds. I think Griffin can deal with those numbers fairly easily. Your reference to "Malone" as a power forward was I thought a reference to Karl Malone. Moses might have played some forward but he's most remembered as a center. This is a quote I got from NBA.com's profiles of Moses. "At the age of 19, Malone was almost skinny at 215 pounds, yet he still played in 83 games for the Stars in 1974-75, averaging 18.8 points and 14.6 rebounds." Considering size and strength was so much a part of Moses Malone's game do you mean to tell me a 6'10" 215 pound Moses Malone would step into today's NBA and pull down 18 points and 14 rebounds as a 19 year old? Puleaze... ------------------ "I'm attempting to dream in a world where not many people dream any more." - "Rocket man" Brian Walker
Griffin is very tall.He must bulk up to play against the PF's in the west.We shouldn't trade KT,cause his contract isn't fat and he has good numbers. So led Griffin play the 3! ------------------
Where did I say that? BahDakota might think that. However, Malone was flat out awsome. If Griffin turns into half the player Malone was, watch out. ------------------ T-Pooh and BahDakota went up the hill, to make a bet on a Forward. I heard Ralph lifted some heavy weights in his college days. Just because he was thin doesn't mean he wasn't strong. In his heyday he wasn't a Shaq, but not too far off D Rob. Also, Rodman was only 215 and we know what he did on the boards and playing defense against guys with 35 more lbs. I haven't seen Griffin in action so I don't know about his strength, but I do know there is a lot more too it than weigth/ht. And I would imagine a 20 year old Moses even at 215 would get significant PT (though obviously not an 18 & 14) if he entered the NBA tomarrow.
I watched Eddie the other night and his body has a lot of potential to bulk up. His calves looked liked softballs. His upper body needs developed and he will become a dominating 4 in the L for years to come. I just hope we trade Fato so he does not adopt his work out style of lifting fork to mouth non stop There is only one power forward in the league that players should strive to become, Karl Malone (Yes, I dislike him too), he has tremendous off/on season workout program and has built his body to deal with an 82 game schedule over a 17 year period (that's amazing). Once again, please don't judge these players on summer league games. Only judge then against full time NBA caliber players ------------------ Let go and let GOD!
I saw Eddie Griffin in the SoCal Summer League in Long Beach. On paper and film (in college) you see him as a "3" however when you see him in person...he is without a doubt a "4". His lower body is more developed than his upper body, he is about 230 beleave it or not and is a legit 6-10 and maybe 6-11 by the start of the season...with an outside chance to become 7ft...after all he is only 19. His shotblocking skills are the best since "Zoe" able to block shots from every angle...his defensive flaws are due to lack of experiance not really lack of strength...he let's his man setup too deep in the paint because that's what 19 year old's do. Most people are judging him based on summer league play with "scrubs"...just wait tell he plays with Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley. Rookie of the Year...16+pts and 9+rbs. ------------------
Well Griffin says he is a 4. Read Dark Horse's interview with Griffin. ------------------ Keep Mo Ta & now we have Ta Mo
Funny how I seem to be right about that bet thingy doesn't it. DaDakota ------------------ If you like RTS games, check out this one. www.frontierwars.com coming soon to a PC near you.
Griffin will EVENTUALLY be an effective 4 in the West, but not in the next couple of years. In my opinion, Griffin will succeed a lot more at the 3 at this stage in his career because he is ideally built for it. He will need to put on some serious mass before he can be considered an effective 4 in the West. Hey guys. How about bringing a guy like Ike Austin into Houston. I dont think that he costs too much and I think he is a good body for us to compete in the physical West. Financially speaking, is Ike a possibility? ------------------
Bahh, Bahhh - If Griffin is to play PF, how many minutes will he get this year? ------------------ T-Pooh and BahDakota went up the hill, to make a bet on a Forward. When it all came down, they were nowhere to be found. Now they should be drawn and quartered.
If they replay the game against Portland, would he be able to stop Zach Randolph? Would he be able to score against Zach Randolph? Is he really a power forward? Or are the Rockets just hoping they didn't make a mistake by bypassing Zach Randolph? ------------------
